I have a spare ticket for Friday and possibly one for Sunday too.
Open to sensible offers.
PS - I too think the ticketing thing is a bad joke. If it's anything like rail station barriers, it'll cause far bigger queues as:-
- People get to the gate THEN remember they need their phone, get the phone out, unlock it, find the app, open the app, wait for the app to get signal, navigate to tickets then present it for scanning.
- Scans don't work all the time, causing problems when scanning fails and requiring manual intervention and a debate.
- Apps don't work all the time...and the Silverstone app currently has a rating of 2.2 on PlayStore, with FAR more 1-stars than 4s and 5s. That's bloody awful...
...and then there's the small matter of all those older-generation who either don't use smartphones or aren't savvy enough to confidently use a badly-designed app.

If you're unable to access tickets on a phone, call the festival helpline (01483 52 44 24) and they can change your account to allow printable tickets.
That tel # just takes you to the organisers, not the ticketing teams.I was told to use the contact-us form
https://help.silverstone.co.uk/hc/en-gb/requests/n...
...and they'd get back to you.
So me and a mate both did. I now have a series of PDFs, he has eTickets. Quick, no arguments or excuses...I get the impression there's been a LOT of backlash against the app* and they're now just doing whatever people want...
* Not surprising given the age demographic

Anyone have an event report or photos to share?
I went yesterday. My second year going. Had a great day. Arrived about 9am, no issues getting in, straight into the car park a very short walk to entrance by the megastore/hotel. First thing I did was go and get the infield bus to the international paddock. To anyone there today, I'd advise doing this first as the queue for the bus gets quite long later in the day. Had a good walk around the international paddock and I love the access you get at this event, you can freely walk about and watch the cars being worked on etc.I then went to sit in Woodcote to watch some racing and avoid the rain! It was a bit frustrating that only the furthest gates on Woodcote where open. Luffied wasn't open. There is also nothing going on behind them like other events. So a good view of the track but a long walk to get there from the rest of the action. One disappointment yesterday was that I was looking forward to the NASCAR parade which didn't happen when planned, I assume due the rain or delay, instead the car clubs came out.
Loads to see off track also to keep you entertained for a full day. This is subjective depending on what you want to see but I was keen on seeing the endurance stuff but this wasn't on until later in the afternoon and I was done by about 3pm (had also walked about 20k steps by this point!) So made a call to not wait an extra 2 hours. Guess that's the benefit of camping as you could pop back for a bit.
All in, a very enjoyable day. We went as we had tickets for Goodwood FOS on Saturday which was obviously cancelled so used the cash for this instead. It actually cost slightly more but you do get roaming grandstand access and it's a far more enjoyable level of busyness than Goodwood.
To anyone going today, the National pits/paddock will all start packing up after lunch (they seemed strangely quiet vs prior years yesterday morning too).
Also, if you're able-bodied the walk between the Village Green and the International Paddock isn't that far...no need to queue for the buses.
Really enjoyed the NASCAR display...interesting how much detail actually in them, and some of the cheats/rule-bending that went on there.
Oh, and tomorrow afternoon a replica BRM V16 is going out.
I thought yesterday was quieter than previous years (so was last year, but yesterday even more so) - you could get space in any grandstand at any time, and the car club stands all had space on them. I wonder if people have had enough of the event or if the move to August (and clashing with CarFest, Leeds/Reading and little stuff like school holidays) has hurt attendance?

I have to say, as a classic car enthusiast, after numerous years of attending I shan’t be going anymore. I’ve felt the classic car ‘theme’ has been watered down more and more every year and the fact it’s now a ‘festival’ as opposed to the ‘classic’ reinforces that IMHO. In terms of the infield car club parking there were fewer genuine classics than I’ve ever seen before and far more modern cars including a ridiculous number of what I would call daily drivers parked infield no doubt as a result of people taking advantage of their club membership.
More and more space is also being given over to ‘other entertainment’ inside the venue and I also found that the easy access to the cars in some of the garages (particularly in the International Paddock) wasn’t as easy as previous years with barriers up in many stating no access to the public.
Additionally there was also a modern Ferrari/ Lamborghini race at lunchtime which lasted about an hour which would not have happened a few years ago.
When you add to that it was £3.90 for a bottle of Fanta and the racetrack views are pretty dire around much of the circuit it’s just not for me anymore.
I appreciate others will have different views but it’s just not what it was- it’s aligning itself more towards a ‘car fest’/ festival of speed these days.
Hope that those who go today do enjoy it and that you have a better day with the weather!

What time and where did they come out? As per the timetable, I was expecting them to be on track after the historic touring cars and they didn't appear and it went straight into car clubs. I didn't have a radio so couldn't hear any announcements about amends to the schedule.Gassing Station | Events & Meetings | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
