GT3 170

I was 6mph down on my best into the headwind.

Billy83 was 161 in the Grey CSL, about 9mph down on his best.

Thanks again Craig, Greg, Andy and James

LEON

Forget about customisng the car to a VMAX spec. The longer 6th gear makes for better 200+mph driving and is a great addition to car, reducing strain on the engine. You just need to do the double ton more often to get the benfits from it. Get over to Germany when you get the opportunity and really let rip.

only one run for me, so i do need the official speed from the timers, but speedo was 181mph. Looks like a doggy earth stopped powering the ECU at this speed, and the engine just switched off!!!

These 993s are not exactly a benchmark in aerodynamics. Do you mind me asking what is your 6th. gear ratio?

99.85mph according to Suffolk Constabulary.

Oh, you mean at Brunters, 129mph, bloody headwind!

DAZ,

ok but can't see where I would do 210 mph in the uk especially with 11 points on my licence, also not great for trackday events so I think shorter is in fact better..

Muncher someone else may no more than me but if they have got your reg wrong on the form they filled out - I think you might get away with it, the ole technicality thing!

not sure of the exact ratio, just that when I'm shifting from 7200rpm revs drop off to 5000 which for me indicates it's too long relative to fith...even ruf didn't recommend it

on the aerodynamics issue, yeah I agree I think 993's suffer more than most with strong headwinds...not bad for a 10 year old car though

So you have a 0.67 instead of stock 0.75 ratio. That would slow you down by about 1/2 sec to 185mph as a reference, so you could gain roughly another 3-4mph with stock ratios.

They've got your number wrong on the ticket????

Absolutely worth running with Paul. Let the official form or whatever happens come through... let me tell you of an instance about 6 months ago.

I got a parking ticket in the 348, reg No JIL (i) 3119. It was bang to rights, he even took a digi pic of the car and tax disk as they do now. I rang up to pay the fine and mentioned that they needed to change the Reg No.
- Nope, it is definitely a 1 (one) sir
- No, it's an 'i'
- can you prove it?
- look on your database under Jay-eye-el 3119 and it will come up as a yellow ferrari 348 spider, just like the one you took a picture of
- Sorry Sir, send us proof that it is an 'i' and we'll write the fine off. If the ticket is made out incorrectly then it is not admissable.

Now I don't know for sure, but surely that must hold true for any evidence, i.e ticket?

However on a normal day Liams Ruf would of been good for 190+,headwind speed was at least 10mph today, great looking car by the way mate.......
