Borrowing a gun won't be a problem and cartridges will be available on the day.

The only issue is that shooters are confident enough to shoot unsupervised due to the nature of the targets. It'll be like shooting a "flush", you won't know which direction the clays will be coming from, nor when they are coming.......just like live pigeon shooting! The format is great fun, and not something that is usually available at most shooting grounds!

The reason we can't accommodate complete novices is that it takes quite a long time to teach people from scratch which results in a lot of standing around for everyone else.Usually it's not a problem because there are plenty of other stands to shoot, but the format for this shoot means there's only one stand, and TBH the targets will be quite "testing"!

I've shot quite a few guns and played professional paintball so I can point at things and shoot in their general direction. What other issues are there?

Deflection!

Shotguns at moving targets is a rather different discipline to pistols/rifles at static targets, and even paintball (slow-moving people, lots of rounds to fire off in hope). IMHO (not the worlds biggest expert, but I've shot a fair few different guns) it's more of a sport, while target shooting is a discipline.

Not saying you'll be crap, just don't expect it to be quite as familiar as you'd expect. It's great fun though, even if you (like me) don't hit that much...

I would expect myself to be bit crap at first, but still wouldn't mind the chance to have a go...

It took me an hour and a half last Sunday to get to Cheltenham.

I think it's all a little academic, I've just checked and it seems it's a mere 196 miles from Wigan to Sandon and will only take you circa 4 hours.....each way!!!!

I'm sure you're keen as mustard.......in fact, if you do make the journey, I'll make an exception for you, and we'll ensure you get the best tuition we can muster!

Cheers spidey. If I was to come I would make it coincide with a visit to my mate in Watford so it's not as stupid as it sounds. When the dates are sorted I'll then have to see if he is free and if I am.

It looks like the only two dates that haven't been crossed off the list are 28th July and 4th August.

Are there any preferences?

Do either of these dates clash with any other important events?

Can I put a request in for 4th August please - we're off to my folks one weekend in the last-half of July, but haven't yet fixed a date...would be easier if it wasn't the same weekend.

August being the furthest date ahead is the one least likely to be booked up I would guess......

Either 28th July or 4th August for me.

Sorry for being so slow in replying but I've only just seen it. Looking forward to it. It will give me some practice before I take on Filthy_Phil on the glorius 12th. Mind you he may see this thread and put his name down as well! Git!

Sorry about the late reply, just returned from Le Mans.

I could not do the 28th of July, but the 4th of August looks good so far smile. Would be myself and maybe 2 others as before.
