Was a great meet guys, thanks for organising. I also couldn't resist and found myself signing up for a few runs, was a great mix of cars.

Like a lot, this was my first experience with this sort of thing, had a few c*ck ups - namely on one by not changing gear (I forgot I was in manual, idiot) and on one try with launch on I was just sat spinning for ages (the wall feels very close as you pivot a little), so backed off and got 18s, lol.

My final run of the day (not bothering with launch) did manage to get me into the 12s though, just.

Need to find out how to adjust the launch revs and have another go.

but the slippy track conditions were far from ideal yesterday.
I think it's a little unfair to refer to the racing surface at Santa Pod as slippery.

The track is tarmac, with a substantial layer of rubber painstaking laid over the top of it, it is kept in really good condition.
All of the competitive classes of drag racing are traction limited, so have to rely on a good racing surface.

What the track is, is exceedingly smooth. This doesn't work well for a tyre compound or construction which isn't biased towards a drag racing surface. I guarantee that there are plenty of drag specific vehicles which could have gone down that track a lot quicker than anyone did yesterday with, potentially, less power.

I have blown a gearbox and snapped a driveshaft at Santa Pod.
In fairness I've done the same - outside a girl friends house

And rightly so, it's a cracker.

It's twice in a row we've been up against each other too on track at a PH eventsmile

Looks like a good event! Couldn't make it as BTCC was on offer, saw a Toyota on the way who flashed and had the form for a SS so guess he went there!

Santa Pod lifestyle events can have some scum bags in attendance.
Try going to a real race meeting.
I live in the village next to the strip and we get sick of it in the summer, the amount of times we've nearly had head on accidents or have been forced up the verge by some chavvy t**t either racing their mate side by side round a blind bend or swerving onto the wrong side of the road because their slammed piece of st would've ground on the bumpy road (seriously!!!!). Obviously people will say don't live there then , but it's a lovely place to live and the majority of people are ok who visit santa pod......

Great time a Pod thanks PH!

Finally got around to editing up some of the footage from the GoPro and collating trackside footage kind individuals have sent me.

Finally got to find out who has the fastest Griff out of me an my friend. It wasn't me frown

Also had a great race with a BMW M5, that thing was unbelievably quick! Managed to gain a bit of distance off the start line but by mid track it was gaining really quickly. Just managed to hold it off before crossing the line.

Really close!

Loving these new type of Sunday Service events where you can see the cars in action rather than just all parked up. Great fun.

My first SS and really enjoyed it. Lots of brilliant cars, friendly atmosphere, and some great strip action (!). Made the trip from Lancashire and back well worth it and would love to attend another at the same venue. Hopefully I'll be able to take the drive in something a little more interesting next time than a diesel focus!

Quick opinion to put out there though, I was quite underwhelmed by the (lack of) noise from the Mustang. Was that just me, was I expecting too much, or were my perceptions skewed by the volume of the other vehicles there?

Really enjoyed my first Sunday Service, you all have such wicked cars and it was mega hard to stop drool leaking out. Watching the Mustang disappear in a thick cloud of smoke in front of me brought back so many memories of standing in the barn. Little Alfa loved every minute and we finally found somewhere special enough to use the launch control for the first time even though it did feel a bit like cheating. Brother came along too and even trusted me enough to sit in for the first couple of runs. Thought everyone was really friendly and looking forward to going to more this year.
