Just to confirm for everyone, who may have missed the details in previous posts.

Outbound journey is on the 9:28 am crossing from Folkestone to Calais
Return journey is the 18:42 pm crossing from Calais to Folkestone

Remember that these times are local (most pertinent for the return journey) and France is 1 hour ahead of UK time.

Also, for anyone who wants to meet up before the Eurotunnel terminal, we will be meeting at the Maidstone Services at junction 8 of the M20 from 7:30 am. We will be leaving the Services at 8:30 am to be sure of arriving at the Eurotunnel for check in on time.

Rob, turn up for the 9:28 anyway, as there is a good chance that they might squeeze you on if a few people don't turn up (general public that is, not PHers). Failing that, I am sure the rest of the guys won't mind hanging on for 15 minutes or so - most of that will be taken up whilst we try and get ourselves organised after getting off the train anyway.

Just to let everyone know that due to numbers that have now booked their crossing, the restaurant is now up to the limit that they feel they can cope with as a single group. This means that if you haven't already booked, places are now closed.

One other note is that the Chateau is trying to get us to agree to a single choice meal to make it easier for them to cater for us all. Frankly I can't imagine how they can think that all thirty of us would all like to choose the same dish as everyone else! To this end we are still talking to them to get around this problem. Probably the best compromise would be for them to supply us with a menu so that everyone can pre-order before we arrive.

If this proves to be a sticking point, there is an alternative Chateau just a few miles away that we can consider as a backup option, so all is not lost if Chateau Tilques insist we all choose the same meal.

I'll keep you posted.

Okay, booked the 9.42 but fingers crossed for the earlier one.

No worries about the meal, give it a shot getting in but if no joy I'm happy to sit on the lawn eating a Brie Baguette or potter around aimlessly "does anyone speak English" ala ROTLA 3 etc....

Car is E46 M3 and see you at the Servo beforehand

Dear All,

After MUCH correspondence with Château Tilques "we" have made the decision to change Château’s!!
Our reason’s are: They want us ALL to choose the same starter and main course!!
They also want to choose our aperitif's now!
There is also the small matter of a 750 euro non refundable deposit which they want me to pay!! - ouch!!
So, what started out as a good idea has become "all consuming" within the last 72 hours!!
However, we do have a cunning contingency plan!
We will now be visiting Chateau De Cocove (which was our first choice but they took too long in coming back to us!).
It's location is only about 10 mins form our original destination - and
(more importantly) we have a choice of menu!
But, as we are now considered a "large party" - they have requested that we pre choose from the menu.

Please can I ask you ALL to choose from the menu below ASAP and then email me the following:

Your Name?
What Car you will be in?
How many people in your car?
A contact number?
And your choice from the Menu?

My email is ianandlynn@darg100.fsnet.co.uk

If at all possible, it would be REALLY REALLY appreciated if you can email me sooner rather than later!

The menu: 5 courses, 44 euro's per person, which is a 4 euro increase compared to Chateau Tilques.

Starters: (by the way.... I have no idea what Gambas is? - but hey, it sounds nice!!).

Foie Gras de Canard cuit par nos soins
Duck Liver cooked by ourselves

or

Gambas et son Petit Riz Safrané
Gambas with its Saffron Rice

or

Eventail de Melon et son Jambon de Bayonne
Fan-Shaped of Melon with Bayonne Ham

* * * *

Soufflé de Brochet au Coulis de Crustacés

Pike soufflé with Crustaceans Sauce

or

Feuilleté de Coquilles Saint Jacques et sa Sauce Bercy
Scallops in puff pastry with its creamy sauce

* * * *

Côtes d’Agneau Grillées au Romarin et Petits Légumes

Grilled Lamb Chops in Rosemary with Season Vegetables

or

Magret de Canard aux Saveurs Fruitées
Breast of Duck with Fruity Flavours

* * * *

Plateau de Notre Maître Fromager

Assorted Cheeses

* * * *

Crêpes au Grand Marnier
Crêpes with an orange brandy liqueur

or

Craquant Tiède au Chocolat
Warm Crusty Chocolate Cake

Many thanks in advance for your speedy reponses.

IanQV

Lambochick - we stayed at a Chateaux going down to Le Mans and they pulled the same trick - all must pre-order food before arrival.

So much for the French chefs being the best in the world..

We got our own back though .. the bar man left the bar unattended for an hour between 12 and 1am ..

Don't think much if they can't cater for 30 odd people on the fly. Fortunately Ian has a marvellous back up plan which, frankly, sounds even better than the original choice.

I'll be PM'ing everyone to draw their attention to Ian's post, as he needs to get our menu choices to the Chateau as soon as possible to make everything that little bit easier for when we arrive. I apologise in advance if you read this, and have already sent your details before I get a chance to mail you.

All I've got to do now is re-print all the maps and directions I had prepared !!

Unfortunately I can't find a website for the new Chateau, but in case any of you were wondering what it looks like, here's a piccie.

Your trip looks fab!

We have stayed at The Cocove - its pretty good and the food is normally very good (normally have a choice of gourmand menu's), but if I recall, the kitchen is quite small hence they probably want you to pre-choose. Rooms are a bit shabby (typical Best Western)but if the suns shining, get some chairs and sit outside and take in the rays! The best thing is that its not very far from Calais!

Have fun and cant wait to see the piccies

HH.

Get it booked up Peter! The more Noble's the better! Especially one that resembles a fighter jet!
