Any decent hotels in Leeds with a secure car park near where we will be meeting ? If I can get the company to pay for a couple of nights in York I don't see why one of them could not be in Leeds

If you trust some bell-hop hoon to park it, then 42 The Calls is a very nice little place (they didn't total my Elise when parking it)... got a feeling they might just move it to an NCP for you, but worth checking. Right next to all the good bars & restaurants, too. I'm fairly sure the Merrion (not great) & Crowne Plaza (slightly better IMHO) hotels have secure parking. Never had any problems leaving cars outside in the not-so-full-of-townies areas in Leeds, anyway, like down by The Chandlers, etc. on the Calls where there are always Mercs, Porsches, etc. parked. In fact, someone tends to leave an 360 Modena there half of the time.

Don't think I've met any of you guys (and gals) unless I ran into you at Bruntingthorpe this summer, but I'm always around Leeds & Sat 13th's great for me if you don't mind a stranger dropping by.

I only met the guys a week ago, have to say they are a very friendly bunch, even if they can't hold their beer!

:ducksandrunsforcover:

I don't drink beer And don't remember acting daft at BTaP flashback I do remember saying 'das fish, das fish' to Mrs. Fish late doors whilst she was on the champers with Ernest , sorry for that. I also said to Jeremcy C (I think) at the top of my voice again late doors 'Your cerb is beautiful', sorry again for that.

The next time I meet new PH's I think I will have to introduce myself a la Wayne's World 'You don't know me, I'm not mental or anything, I'm Martyn'

It would be a good to eat first, last time I worked in Leeds was on the Dock Street flats (adjacent Adelphi pub and Godloves law firm) was a Tapas bar just down the road near some weird furniture shops, anyone being there? Looked ok inside, is it expensive and was the snap (aka food) any good? The reason I suggest it is that some stonking cars congregate on Friday / Saturday nights there, I have seen a blue 360 spider , plus various porkers, mercs etc parked there. Secret PH northern HQ?

Sorry for long post am feeling quite happy

Excellent..

I too have no memory of anything silly at BTaP..

I've no idea at all about hotels and eating/drinking places in Leeds; merely sometimes work here in an office at the north of the city.. Currently looks like I need to be in Cornwall the following day at a rather sensible/ungodly hour, so I may yet stay sober and drive home after the festivities..

Yes, it can happen..

So, more suggestions for venues etc from someone more local than I am..

No such thing as a stranger on PH, only a drunk friend you've never met!

Beautiful cerb you have there JS

Excellent... and a drunken friend you probably won't remember the morning after?

Cheers. Starting to think I'm running out of things to do to it, though... and I definitely shouldn't be allowed to start having engine mods!

Will behave myself in Leeds, is abit too close to home to make a monkey of myself

What engine mods can you do to a Cerb? I know that Joospeed does a induction kit, has anyone cracked the code for the ECU yet

Noting a few of you are parking at the Docks end of town, Martyn's idea of meeting around The Calls seems sensible. The Adelphi is, erm, a 'real beer' pub filled with 'proper' flat-cap wearing, beer drinking yorkshiremen. Apparently it is the closest pub to the Tetley brewery, however I am reliably informed it doesn't serve the best pint of Tetleys!.....anyway..! This would seem to be the most logical place to meet as it won't be as full as the pubs in the city, therefore making it easier to find each other.

As for the rest of the evening may I suggest that the choices of places to eat in that area are:-

Tapas Bar - I haven't tried it, so can't make any comment.
The Calls Grill - Good food, busy restaurant, lots of steak!
Livebait - Only suitable if you like fish!
Pizza Express - It does exactly what it says on the can!

There are loads more restaurants around the area but they are more the 'upper-end' of the market. Probably somewhere you would want to take a special 'laydee' and not a group of Petrolheads!

As far as the drinking venues go, we'll work it out as we go! JS, if you have any suggesstions please speak up! In the meantime I suggest we agree on somewhere to eat and make a booking asap. If not it'll have to be curry/kebab later

So what d'ya think?

Socialising down by The Calls? I can certainly help out there. In favour of Pizza Express/Calls Grill for food... Live Bait's fantastic, but possibly a bit upmarket and too "lifestyle" for a PH do. Bars are the main problem being a pre-XMas Saturday night out in Leeds - most of town'll be rammed. I guess staying down "Southside" is the best bet... Reclaim (by 42 The Calls), Bar Aire, and the Elbow Room are probably the best bets for places with space for a decent number of people whilst staying "relaxed" - depends how many are turning up, though. Northern Light is fantastic, but maybe a bit too much effort - something to consider on the night, maybe! Everywhere cool around BRB, Oporto, Norman, etc. and the Corn Exchange venues (Townhouse, Cafe Rouge and so on) will probably be far too busy & full of the usual suspects. Think that covers most of the places down in that corner of town.

[Starting to feel I might spend a bit too much time out on the tiles]

Was going to talk to Joolz after XMas about getting the AJP upgrade he can do sorted. Don't think it's going to be enough, though. There was once an ad for an AJP supercharger I saw, but I'm not convinced of the feasability/reality of that. Been told by an indy that they reckon they could get a BMW 6 speed manual box into the car, which'd be very nice. I think I'm going to get stumped for real power upgrades for sensible money, though.

I'm currently debating seeing if anyone's willing to squeeze an S6 engine into an Elise for me... I do like the idea of approx. 500BHP/tonne.
