yes a touch pricey..
Scandinavia is pricey though, and Ramshackle is unsupported. All PN tours include at least one tour manager and tour support vehicle, the Viking Tour has three tour managers and three support vehicles.

a friend did the one to Valencia last year and said it was the best 4 days of his life
Banger rallies are great, I've done several myself www.getchamotorrunning.co.uk but a banger rally and a driving tour are two very very different creatures.

If you want a challenge involving breakdowns and a degree of pain and hardship, most likely including; sleeping in the car, bribing border guards and eating petrol station food and instant noodles. Then go for the Banger rally.

If you want a fully supported tour where someone else has done the hard work seeking out the best roads, best sights, best hotels and best restaurants. Booked all your ferries for you and will offer you support so that it's not game over even if your car dies. Then go for the driving tour.

Don't get me wrong, they're both fun in their own way and I enjoy doing a bit of both. Norway is expensive but I have to say I was looking into doing this independently so am aware of the costs involved and it actually seems to work out cheaper doing it through this tour! presumably the boys have been able to haggle some good group discounts??

We're not like the Cannonball lot who blast down the motorways and try and beat everyone to the next hotel.
Sorry but I really need to correct you on that one Harsh.

Firstly, yes, although we do 'use' motorways to get to where we need to get to, it's not a race, we dont condone speeding and/or any dangerous driving. The objective is to reach each destination at with an average speed of 61mph. this can be done within the speed limit.

We don't sticker-up our cars, Cannonballers dont want to draw any unwanted attention to themselves & we breath test the drivers every morning, if they don't pass they don't drive

Also we used some incredible roads, however, we don't advertise them and don't use the same old routes that many other runs give their drivers.

Finally we hire an F1 circuit for the day (open pit lane) for our drivers to really let their hair down last year we used Imola, before that Estoril & Hugaroring. This years track is VERY special, thats all that I can say! wink

At Cannonball Run Europe we have radically changed the ethos of our run and Im sure this years run will be as good as ever! wink

Please....I really dont want to turn this into a pop corn eating inter run slanging match but...

2005 - The article was about the 'Cannonball-inspired "Drivers Run"' NOT the Cannonball Run Europe.

2006 - This was the first run that Jan ran. We did start with stickers but that was the first and last time, cars havn't been stickered up since then. We do, however, sticker up at the port for the journey home.

2007 - This was the Cannonball 8000 which is now defunkt and has nothing to do with the Cannonball Run Europe!

Sorry K17LER BUT It's YOU who needs to get her fact right! rolleyes

Again, lets not turn this into an inter run slanging match, there's a place for both runs here. smile

Edited to change sex of K17LER I though you were a bloke!

Agreed, there is indeed room for both runs as they are different creatures which I think is what Harsh was trying to communicate.
Apologies if those other runs aren't associated with you but they're using the "Cannonball" name so you can see the confusion.

Will PM my other comments and leave this thread free for people to discuss the Viking tour.
