Again want to say thank you to ph team.

Weather was a real challenge, dry weather track tyres and zero aids (even using open boot for extra downforce..... Ahem) 40mph through woodcote was an achievement! All good fun though keeping right out of the way was a full time job lol.

Hope those involved in the accident(s?) are OK. Not nice to hear about these things!

Here's a few of my photos:

Haven't done any cropping or editing - I'm not a pro!
Thanks! It is rare for photos of my MR2 to crop up on these threads!
There's more pics of your car than anything else on that page haha!
I was probably so slow that I was an easy target...

Great fun! Big thanks to all involved in organising, I was in the 09:35 session in a black Clio. Very wet and very slippy but great fun! Not the best quality video but I've uploaded it here... https://youtu.be/Q_xQhjCsUbE
You were going well! I'm in the e36 desperately trying to keep the back end in check biggrin

Managed to get a no traffic lap in. Unfortunately my front tyres had run out of grip and my right foot had ran out of discipline!

The way you change from 3rd to 4th gear makes it look like there's a risk of getting 2nd instead...

Nice catch at the end of the lap though!

Just got home smile

Once again an excellent day out. Thanks to everyone involved!

Sorry if I held anyone up on track - first time out in the wet.

Had a good day despite my white Elise feeling like it was being driven on sheet ice all day. Couldn't believe the difference between the AD08's on a dry track with seemingly unlimited grip compared to the wet track. Was definitely an eye opener being passed by anything and everything!
Went on the 9:35 lake session and the 11:55 drying session and got to say there were a lot of very poor moves on me in the later session. I was clearly struggling for grip and sliding all over but was being overtaken and undertaken round corners, not cool.
It was supposed to be a novice session, my guess is people sold their novice tickets to others who were more experienced and clearly better than me and had no patience at all, trying to spot braking distances and cope with a sliding car on your first time on a damp track is hard enough without trying to second guess what others were going to do. I moved over at every opportunity but that wasn't good enough for some clearly.
Seen a few of you on here since the event but not going to name names, I'm sure you know who you are.
Thanks to PH and silverstone staff, it was a good event despite the weather

Also, if the guy in the White S3/RS3 on the 11:55 session has got a clip of me spinning in front of you at Copse I'd like to see it! Instincts took over and I don't really remember what happened! I saw you had a GoPro so hopefully it was running. Apologies if it caused you any issues, it almost caused an issue in my underwear

I was in front of you towards the end of the session I think. I hope I behaved smile But you're right one or two were clearly not novices! I only got passed badly once but was aware I needed my wits about me as I to was struggling for grip with under and oversteer and paranoia about the pit wall!

I had a lot of fun in the 11:20 session in my diesel estate. The only way I could keep up was with late braking!

Ah, the first overtake on that video. Round the outside of a rear wheel drive car on what was probably the slickest corner on the track, good move.

Just my personal opinion and sorry if you disagree just my view, certainly in the morning wet session you were holding up several cars before and around Luffield but by time exiting Woodcote onto the straight you'd put foot down and the slower cars held up for those bends then couldn't get passed.

With the track being so wet and levels of grip so low I don't blame you for not moving across on the bends to an even wetter line but once on the straight should of just lifted and let them past in my opinion.

Thanks for a great SS as always!

I was on the 11:55 Novice session in the grey civic, I too witnessed how little grip the AD08R's have in the wet so was tip-toeing in the corners till the last half of the session, incredible how much of a hindrance it is having improper tyres for the conditions! Had a good run with a black 350Z when it dried a bit though smile

Point taken. Apologies if I didn't move over quick enough but if I couldn't have fun in the corners then I could at least have fun with some acceleration on the straights. I wasn't aware that I was holding people up for long times though, maybe a corner or two?
Again, sorry if it wasn't enough but conditions were tricky and I think I was entitled to a bit of fun too, I don't think I was blocking unnecessarily and was trying to improve my own driving on the novice session.
Also, my dad had a go for half the session so it could have been him and not me wink

Cracking Sunday Service - big thanks to PH and Silverstone. Given the weather, the national circuit was ideal - just slightly fewer corners than I have brain cells, so I managed to 'remember' them all pretty quickly.

I was in the 10:10 session and though the level of co-operation between drivers was excellent. It was extremely challenging just to stay on the black stuff if you were moving, so the levels of consideration and co-ordination involved in getting closely matched, but very slightly different paced cars past one another was no mean feat.

At one point, I'd had to slow for the spinning Griff through Woodcote which mean that on the way to Copse, I felt it polite to keep right with my indicator on, as cars that hadn't lost momentum made their way through. It's a track day, not a race, and I thought the general spirit out on the circuit reflected this. thumbup

Will try to edit some video, but in the meantime, here's 15 second of my first stab at finding a line through Copse, brought to you courtesy of traction control and 4WD hehehttps://www.facebook.com/marcus.clay.7/videos/1638...

It's fine, your first time on track in novice session in the pouring rain with standing water not the most ideal of conditions.

Your response shows maturity and correct attitude. Hope you enjoyed it anyway it becomes a bit of a bug though wanting to get back on track and experiencing other circuits.

We've all be that apprehensive, first time on track driver with the sinking stomach feeling and something you try to be so cautious to miss the obvious things. Also regardless of how much of a track expert you'll always make mistakes we're all human would be boring if we perfected every lap identically and perfectly.

Just got home - bit sleepy after the early start! Nice morning out - got chatting to the guy with the Zenos/Z4 Coupe (sorry didn't catch your name) and the guy with the Exige S (Alex?).

I took a few photos and videos of the 11:20 session - I'll have a look now and see if there's anything upload-worthy!

Thanks to the PH guys and to Silverstone - a great morning out. smile
I am the nameless stranger you were chatting to (actually the name's Aaron smile). Did you remember to collect your free t-shirt for volunteering to marshal the parking?
I spoke to the sone of the official Silverstone staff, and they were told there would still be three PH volunteers on duty. Seems there was a communication failure somewhere.

Despite the weather I enjoyed the day.
