I thought the timing was just right, early in the run their was no traffic, and as the morning drew on, the odd car appeared for our overtaking pleasure
Don,
I notice you are a publisher. Which one do you work for? I work in the trade magazine market.

I hop I can make it this time - maybe stay over somewhere to get a very early start?

I loved the doubling back bit, gave you a chance to see some of the other groups or in my case drop out of one and join another. A couple more of those would be great.

The event was well balanced, great start time, breakfast stop, great variety of roads and something to eat at the end.

Jay,

Inspired by last w/end, have been working on a couple of options....mix of fast flowing and nuggety nibbles...my normal Sunday AM runs...Runs Kent/Sussex with some coastal action (Beachy Head road...)

Will send you a tt itn file once I have it firmed up a little more...

Some of the roads will be repeats of last w/ends as you cant beat them...

See what you think....

I think the only reason why we chatting so long in that 1 carpark was because of the long cue for that restaurant.

If perhaps we found a different restaurant on the new run with no bikers there won't be a long cue --> we're done eating faster --> more driving.

Yes I agree, a restaurant that is open early enough, and are expecting us would be a big help.

Or we can all take some food with us, and stop at a public pinic area????

Dont need to be any earlier, because later in the year, it will be too dark.

Any news on some footage from Black Frogs group?

Maybe a nice idea to include 1 or 2 tunnels in the route, so we can get a sort of tunnelrun idea as well.

As you are well aware, alas, I was not able to make it last weekend due to a last minute hitch ( damn near terminal as it turned out! ) but one thing maybe worth considering is that the more suggestions you get with regards to making the next run more to various folks liking, the more you are changing the original format and whilst placating those that come forward with suggestions, you may well end up alienating others as a direct result. From what I have read since the outing it was much enjoyed by all and a winning formula would seem to have been concocted so why change it?
It is a fact that all of this is a result of a few people getting their heads together and being brave enough to try and organise something of this kind that it happened at all and I do not think it wise to change the format too much. I am not saying that folks views should not be considered but do not make the mistake of trying to incorporate to many suggestions and thus turn this into something not so special.
I realise this is all a bit heavy but how often have any of us seen this type of scenario before and seen events altered beyond all recognition for the sake of betterment or trying to please all, only to see them subsequently fail never to again be repeated?

I have just read this through since posting and would just like to point out that I am not ACTUALLY my Grandad although he is a relation hehe

^ That was exactly what I was NOT trying to suggest J, maybe it is the sceptic in me but I was just trying to point out the alternative outcome of a possible change of direction shall we say brought about by offering suggestions be put forward by any one and everyone. Of course it would be nice to think that everyone involved with a run out has contributed something but there will always be those that contribute more, and those who contribute nothing ( and like it that way! ).

I was agreeing with your sentiments.

What I meant was -

"Don't worry, I won't change the organisational or idealogical formula, nor would I let them be changed"

I have a route in mind now for the next one. BlackFrog has some ideas too, which I will investigate and possibly incorporate.

My thanks go to DamienCBR again for his valued assistance over the last 7 weeks, however I don't think he'd mind me saying that the Kent Run was largely organised by myself with him as right hand man. This time round I haven't got as far as even coming up with an exact route to follow so I've not even considered assistance yet.

In any case - It wasn't broke, so I ain't gonna fix it!

J,

My route still in formative stage and wouldnt propose until I'd given it a proper go...run with what you have - if its half as cracking as the last one, we're in for another treat. Looking forward to it already!
