RE: Mercedes-Benz World Sunday Service 20/03
Discussion
I am sure James Drake can tell us the exact figures but even after this rule was brought in for Bruntingthorpe, I think he said roundabout 230 cars where on the official list but only 170 odd turned up. It wasn't raining that day just a bit cold did roughly 60 people have blowouts/engine issues/other issues, I think not.
Perhaps if James is reading this, a sticky of the official line maybe be needed at the top of the forum?
At the end of the day it's a free event allowing access to some great venues - if you make the decision to come it can't be that hard to commit - you can always bring the daily (I had to when my Impreza didn't leave the mechanics when it should have).

Agreed. A message of the guidelines when you sign up.At the end of the day it's a free event allowing access to some great venues - if you make the decision to come it can't be that hard to commit - you can always bring the daily (I had to when my Impreza didn't leave the mechanics when it should have).

Quick question - Last time I turned up to MBW SS, I was a bit early before the "registration" started, I was part of the first maybe 15 cars. If I'm early again and get in before my name is taken down, would it count against me?
Surely you have the capacity to walk to someone on the gate and tell them you've arrived MrBarry123 said:
And I would expect to be barred from attending again.
Why the eyes Michael? For every genuine excuse, there'll be 10 fabricated excuses by people who can't be bothered when Sunday morning arrives; with it being unrealistic for PH to evaluate who actually has a misfire versus who is just a bit too comfortable in bed. Therefore, if PH are going to police attendance, the only way to do it properly is by having a zero tolerance approach and for those who fall foul of the rule to suck it up.

I'm just suggesting that no matter how genuine you are there are always going to be things which come up. It's one thing when it's free, another thing when it financial for example.
I think if you get a blowout or your car breaks down why should you be penalised from going to future shows?
What happens if your partner is involved in an accident or you have to take them / your child to AE on Saturday night and don't get home till 4 in the morning. Or do you need to report to the admins like a child at school.
As I have said I empathise with the organisers as I have arranged things and expected 50 people to come, to only have 20 arrive and radio silence for those 30 people who didn't turn up... i think them taking a zero policy approach will definitely mean that more people who say they will attend will actually turn up.. but the one strike and you're out policy may not be practical
However I freely admit that I'm not an admin / site runner and that the admin / site runner don't care what I think.
ps i just farted.

Noted - I'll put a sticky at the top of the Sunday Service forum to explain the "rules"Perhaps if James is reading this, a sticky of the official line maybe be needed at the top of the forum?

Just to answer some other questions:
Is the F1 being shown like last year?
Sadly not, we tried our best to arrange it but MBW couldn't make it happen. They might be showing a replay in their cinema, but this isn't anything to do with PH. (their reason for not being able to make it happen was that getting staff to come in and set up before a 5:30am race start on a Sunday is tricky!)
Do I need to sign up even if I don't want to show off my car?
Yes. All attendees need to sign up on the calendar.
Can you split cars up to group certain makes together?
Definitely not - the joy of a Sunday Service, as mentioned above, is the eclectic display of PH metal on display.
I've now posted a guideline to attending Sunday Services and stuck it to the top of the SS forum too.
Thanks all,
JD

Can't make this one but have enjoyed previous SS at MBW and hope there will be another in the summertime.
The new rules on signups are welcome from my end but I fear will be easily bypassed by simply signing up with a new forum account. There's no restriction on needing a certain number of posts or having been a member for a certain amount of time to put your name down for these events, which is excellent, but will probably be abused over the coming months, unless there's some trick backend stuff going on to track duplicate accounts.

Do we have a 'start' time for this? It can't possibly be 10am (although the other half would be happy having longer to faff with her hair!)?
I'll confirm this and let you know, but I'm 99% sure it'll be an 08:30 start. They say 10am as it is a public website and we have the place to ourselves until 10am!JD

HI. On the Mercedes-Benz World Event Calendar it's showing that the Sunday Service runs from 09.00 to 14.00 and the F1 event run from 10.00 to 18.00.
So which is the correct start time for the Sunday Service.
Hi Chris,So which is the correct start time for the Sunday Service.
Ignore the MBW calendar - that's a public website so they just list their normal opening hours. The PH Sunday Service will most likely be starting at 08:30, but I'll confirm this in the email instructions that will be sent out to all attendees.
Thanks
