IanQV is the one organising the Chateau end of things. Drop him a PM (I will speak to him on the phone in a bit to let him know). I know he has been trying to get everyone to e-mail him their meal choices so that he can get that information through to the Chateau, as it will obviously make it easier for them to cater for the 30+ of us who will be turning up. If you can send him your meal choices at the same time as requesting if it will be possible to fit you in, it will be better for him, as I am not 100% sure when he was going to contact the Chateau to pass on final numbers and meal choices. You may be able to catch him before he does that.

Dear All,

I have just emailed the chateau asking if they have "more room at the inn"!!
As soon as I hear back I will post a reply.

To answer some questions: yes we will wait for the next train to come in.
As for meeting points - There is a convey leaving from my place (Chelmsford Essex), and the second meet point is then At the Maidstone Services (junction 8 of the M20) we will be leaving the services at 08.30am sharp!
I have also been asked will we be doing this trip next year? the answer is yes (as long as this years one does not give me a nervous break down!!).

Not long now!!

Don't forget your camera's!

Just to add that I have tried to keep track of numbers so that a map of the route and directions will be available for each car. I'll be handing these out either at the M20 services, for anyone who meets there, or on the French side of the tunnel before we actually drive off.

For anyone who has a Sat Nav to which they can download waypoints from their PC, I can supply a file of the waypoints in either .ov2 or .csv format for Tom Tom or Garmin respectively. Just e-mail me.

If you have a different make of Sat Nav, I do have a conversion program. If you let me know what format you would like the waypoint file in I'll see if I can supply it for you.

Hi All

Just for a change........ here's an update!!!

Rob (AMG Merc) many thanks for the menu choice (I didn't recieve the first one???).

OK: We are still waiting for "Red un" and "Micheal and Sukie" for their menu selection,
did I mention that the last one in gets to buy the beers!!!

I have just heard back from the Chateau - and yes they can cater for another 8 people ONLY.
The bad news is that the channel tunnel is fully booked!!
Even the 4am train out is fully booked!! the next available one is at 11.30am.

You are welcome to come, but you would be joining us v late at the chateau if you come out on the 11.30am train - another alternative would be to catch an earlier ferry outward (and euro tunnel home).
But I will leave your travel arrangements up to you (hover speed is very good and quick!).

So if you are coming and have booked your crossing - please can you send me your menu selection, your name, contact tel number, and what car you have to ianandlynn@darg100.fsnet.co.uk

Don't forget - our French "uniformed friends" will FINE YOU if you are carrying a radar detector!!!

Just to make sure that I have everyone who is coming - if you have booked your euro tunnel
can you just make sure that your name is on the following list:

1. Lambochick.......................Countach (Eurotunnel Booked)
2. IanQV............................Countach (Eurotunnel Booked)
3. Shagga and maybe 1...............Corvette ZR1 (Eurotunnel Booked)
4. Drogo and Anne...................MX5 (Eurotunnel Booked)
5. Red Un...........................Tuscan (Eurotunnel booked)- meal not yet booked!
6. Michael and Sukie................Evo (Eurotunnel booked)- meal not yet booked!

All, I just read my RAC documentation requirements for France and it seems a bit OTT:

Driving Licence and counterpart doc
V5 registration doc
Certificate of insurance
Passport

Headlamp convertors (compulsary) - I know it'll be light!
Warning triangle, first aid kit, spare bulbs (recommended)
EU sticker (if not on number plate)

Do we really need to carry all of this stuff?

Rob, I`d bring all this
Driving Licence and counterpart doc
V5 registration doc
Certificate of insurance
Passport

As for
Warning triangle, first aid kit, spare bulbs
From what I`ve found, there not compulsory.
EU sticker ?, I got one on me number plate, underneath a PH badge

Headlamp convertors (compulsory), I forgot about them, a trip too Halfords Friday? just in case,
unless anyone can say if we need them or not.

Looking forward to the day, see ya there

We drove to Italy in May without headlamp convertors, including some night time driving, and didn't have any problems. As all our driving on this trip is going to be in daylight, I shouldn't think it necessary to go that far. One other thing that a lot of EU countries now insist on (can't remember if it applies in France) is a reflective jacket for each person in the car in the event of breakdown.

Maps have been re-done. Have currently printed off 18 copies, and hope that this will be enough for one per car. (Should be based on current list).

For anyone who uses MS Autoroute, I can send them the .axe file for them to have a look prior to the event. You may also want to print off your own instructions, or close up views of any junctions that we have to negotiate.

Hopefully we should all be able to stick together in one big convoy, but with 17 cars, this is likely to be quite tricky, and I wouldn't be surprised if someone gets seperated somewhere along the way. Fingers crossed that the maps I have prepared will be sufficiently detailed for everyone to stay on the right track.

Headlamp converters can be made with a bit of black electricians tape, a lot of headlamps already have the markings on them. Cheaper and easier than halfords.
Been stopped a few times when driving through france, never been checked for a warning triangle or bulbs but have always had all my insurance and registration documents to hand.I don't have a full bulb kit but generally have a couple of spare bulbs in the garage that I throw in the car before heading over the channel. If I am asked then I can produce the bulbs, how would anyone know if they were the correct bulbs or not?
Finally my passenger is not able to make it so i have a spare seat available. Priority will be single blond female, single brunette female, any other brand of single female and finaly if none of the above are interested then the highest bidding male wins the seat
Seriously anyone interested please let me know, looks like I may need to have someone navigate since the convoy is getting rather big and company on the drive would be nice!
