How's about Daytona, are they up for a January deal?
Isn't that Manchester. In fairness, the Docklands place you mentioned looks pretty good. 800+m tarmac indoor track.
Some silly cheap groupon deals to be had, I'd imagine a deal could be done on January.

Daytona is Milton Keynes, J14 M1, so fairly easy access
Got any links.

If it makes a difference, Loon won't go to London. If we can find another 6 similar venues You, Sterling and I will be vying for the podium.

TBH, I'm hurt enough by Olly's comments that I'm going to go all Rocky/Eye of the Tiger and get good at karting. Then I'll kick his arse. Maybe.

Shouldn't whoever came last chose the next event?

Ski jumping?
Are you big on ski jumping?

I need to get back into Snowboarding. I mince at that too.
First thing that came to mind where my size would be an advantage, not a hindrance... smile

Just had a look at the website for the indoor venue in Docklands.

They don't mention how long the track is, but do confirm that it's asphalt.

No prices listed.

Their 'mini endurance' looks like a good event for us. Do people fancy a January outing? Weekend rather than weekday evening?

Bottom of the page http://www.gokarting.co.uk/gokarting-london-greenw...

850m, £55+VAT, before discounts.

ETA. I'd go more regularly if I can find the time.

Ah ok - thanks - I looked at the company's own site www.theraceway.com

And it was prices from £55 ;-)

They seem to be able to accommodate some pretty big groups which probably generates their base price.

The drinks packages look pretty good too: maybe we should skip the driving?

I have a cunning plan for a "ballast" system....

Looks a great venue though, good setup.

I'm not a huge fan of indoor karting. A bit like driving a milk float as most of them are electric and don't take well to fatties being in them.

Daytona in either Milton Keynes or Sandown would not be a bad idea. Or Buckmore Park?

The karts in Docklands are LPG (if that makes a difference?)

My brother has been there in the last two months, I'll ask him what they're like compared to the Daytona karts.

Eta - Not that it'll make a huge amount of difference to me. I had my arse firmly handed to me the last time around. redface

Tis a good Karting track there, if a bit bumpy...

A while back, a mate managed 47.8xx time on their track (can't say I was anywhere near that!) but be interested to hear what the quickest lap was for you lot...!?

If you are talking about Whilton Mill, the fasted lap in the second race was 48.690 by S3_Graham. I did a 49.512. Don't think we got a print out from the first race though.

Was he in a regular kart? Some people think I am spouting BS when I say I have done a 46.3 round Buckmore Park, but that was in a Club100 kart and the top guys were dipping into the high 45's

Once you have raced outside, the indoor stuff just seems so tame. I have never raced an electric or LPG kart and don't want to.

Outside the speeds are higher, cornering speeds are higher, once you factor in the weather and its a whole different ball game. Get into team endurance racing and the whole thing changes, you hurt, hands/ribs/knees/arms etc but you keep pushing harder because it not just for you, you are racing for the team.

a 47 in the karts we were in is bloody impressive.
I think the reference was to the indoor circuit.

I found the right hand side of the start finish straight very bumpy. It gets a bit more bumpy when you get pushed onto the grass hehe
