Yeovilton Air Day 23rd June 2012
Discussion
Hi all,
Due to our Olympic commitments this year our Air Day has been moved to the 23rd of June and I would like to offer this event up as a great day out, not only to meet up with fellow PHrs but to enjoy a great show with lots to do. The massed Commando and Maritime assault finale is worth the ticket price alone. I have been going here for the last 13 years and used to arrange for members of my old car club to come along and enjoy the day. The main details are not up yet but typically for £18 you will not only gain access to the air show and 8 hours of flying displays and static displays, but also your own space in the middle of the action as we can have our own space reserved on the airfield. So, you get to see the displays, no queuing for hours with everyone else getting in and out and a great chance to show off your pride and joy.
During the previous meets I have arranged I have given behind the barrier tours with cockpit access to our Lynx (current world speed record holder) and access to the Warrant Officer and Senior Rates Mess afterwards which has its own bar for refreshments. I can enquire and arrange accomodation locally and my old club used to camp in the Sparkford campsite which is less than two miles away from the Air Station.
For a quick 60 sec look at last years show have a look here :

and the event has been awarded an 'Event of the Year'award:

It would be a fair trek but it sounds a fantastic day out and if I'm free (6 months is obviously a way off) I'd love to show off on the stand and help out where needed as well as see some awesome flying, especially the Sea Vixen you had last year (owned by De-Havilland IIRC?). May try and persuade my Elise owning mate to come along as well.

I'm not too bad thanks, Baz, soldiering on. Yeah, still have the '2. In the garage over winter, but sill have it. I did a photo shoot for a classic car mag in it in August 2010. The pics are on here somewhere.
Are you still scooby powered?
The Air day is very early this year, which might help make life a bit easier. July is usually packed with car stuff.

Baz I'm actually based at Yeovilton, do you want me to run with this for you in your absence?
That would be awesome Benn, many thanks. Are you the chap that tried to get hold of me before leave? Are you happy looking after a few of the Sporting Bears as I am looking at 20 of them to attend as well?Best regards
Baz
