Calling all PHers!

There has been some interest shown in getting together and organising a PH ski/board session at the newly-opened Hemel Hempstead indoor snow centre... So, to grab the bull by the horns - i'm happy to organise it...

The plan:

  • A Saturday evening, the 29th August - not the 8th!
  • PHers mini-meet in car park
  • A few hours on the slope
  • Adult beverages and aprés banter in the bar

The Snow Centre require that you can control your speed, link turns and are able to use a button lift unaided, but any level of skiing welcomed, even snowboarders! byebye

For more information about the venue, their website can be found Here

If anyone's interested PM me or reply to this thread and we can get a solid plan together and get on the piste!

Cheers,
Steve

I'm in! The 15th or the 22nd would be easier for me though, any flexibility?

Also intrigued as to whether or not my skis and boots will fit in the Seven. Might have to bring the daily driver. scratchchin

I could be up for this.

I'm a member there already, and can say it's much better than MK, and the bar upstairs does good beer, food, and coffee, and has sofa's. The car park is huge.

Any further thoughts on the date Steve? Looking like I'll probably have to give it a miss if the 8th is final.

Hopefully, if we get enough takers we can get a preferential rate on the lift pass tickets, but this is to be confirmed.

Well The date is by no means final... to be honest it was just a Saturday night in a few weeks time that i'm free! The next Saturday that i'll be free after the 8th will be the 29th due to work commitments frown

So, Shall we say Saturday 29th August? I'll ring the Snow Centre over the weekend if everyone's agreed this is a better date and go from there...

If anyone is still interested to go on the 8th too, we could do 2 trips?

Personally, I can't do that one either, but there again I'm a bit busy over August so I'm likely to be awkward full stop! I think the 1st, 14/15th and 21/22nd are the only weekend days I'm around next month.

Might have to catch you next time round... That said I might pop over tomorrow at some point during the day if anyone fancies heading over.

Excellent news! Glad to have you aboard wavey
Hopefully we can drum up enough interest and make it an evening of epic proportion!

I'll be going over to the Snow Centre tomorrow and will try to sweet-talk them into giving us some sort of preferential rate if we can get enough interest... I will advise on this thread what transpires...

I'll make the enquiry tomorrow Paul! I think you're hustling us all though mate - The english Hermann Maier!

I've heard rumours that the snow park thingy there (where you can sledge, I think...) Is included in the entry price... I'll confirm it tomorrow afternoon.

The snow park looked pretty minimal when I went. There was a rather steep kicker cordoned off on the main slope, but I didn't notice anything else. I know they have some sort of freestyle club there though, so they obvious can build something up.

Would sign up, but I'm away that weekend. Still comes recommended. Steve and I checked it out on Saturday and it was still quite quiet - very quiet at the times we weren't on the slope (rather annoyingly).
