went via cuerta back in March.

couple of points - dont buy your ferry tickets in town as you'll get grabbed by touts who will drag you into a particular shop, and then demand a commission in cash off you afterwards. if you do end up buying a ticket at the port, and get grabbed by a ticket tout, go to an entirely different shop than the one they are trying to guide you to. if they help you in the shop - ask them to leave. make it clear to the person in the shop that the tout leaves, or you leave.

if you do end up paying a tout money, make sure the car is parked in a good place to escape, but your escape won't be for long as they will search you out in the port and continue to hassle you.

buy your ferry tickets at the many places on the way in on the motorway.

we went via cuerta.

if you are driving into morocco you are gonna get shafted. the question is how much of a shafting you'll get.

first of all, take cash. have at least 200Euros on you. make sure the cash is in different pockets.

grab a white landing card off someone (they are trying to sell them) so just take one off them and drive on. Fill out the white landing card. if you have a car, you need a green import form. find the green import ncr form. Fill out your vehicle, VIN, reg, and your details.

Then go to a booth with all the passports, and get them stamped to start with. Then find the place to get insurance. If you haven't got dirhams, use the bureau de change next door. After you have the insurance, find the next booth (unmarked) to get everything stamped.

once you have everything stamped, i think you might need to get your passport stamped yet again.

after you've done that, move forward and find the head honcho, who will take one of the NCR sheets from the car form, and stamp that. He'll also search your car.

when that is done, move forward to the gate, wave your passports at the last guy, and your in.

there is a chap called Mo who will help you. he took £80 off us to do all this for us. so, if Mo (tall guy dressed in brown - with 1 tooth left) comes near you - bargain a price right from the start. Mo is very very slick - he will "help" you, and he will "guide" you. He does an extremely good job - but he'll then take you for everything you have. Hence having money in multiple pockets.

do not let Mo in the car.

have fun! say hi to Mo for me.
