We're looking for some decent accommodation in Newuqay, Cornwall for next year. Somewhere to park a car fairly securely would be nice and walking distance to town would also be nice but not essential. Most important thing is somewhere that will accept all male or a predominantly male party. The only places we seem to be able to find are filthy camp sites or surf lodges.

Any suggestions gratefully accepted.

The Penhallow Hotel in the town centre would fit the bill. Their doing discounts at the moment for groups of lads. All rooms have good central heating but the breakfasts tend to be slightly crispy! wink

I went with friends on a Hen Weekend earlier this year and we stayed at the Sutherland Hotel. It wasn't the Ritz and was really basic, but as long you dont't expect much more from a place that caters for Hen/Stag parties then you'll be ok. They've got a large car park at the back and it's really central to the town.

Usually 7 or 8. Often one of the lads is forced to take the wife or girlfriend (whichever he feels like taking at the time) so we're not always an all male party.

Don't mind basic but we're getting a bit drawn with down right filthy!

Thanks for the help but we've found a suitable solution.

It's called Biarritz!

Flight at £39.00 with Ryan Air, hire a car for a few days and stop at a swanky hotel for £40 apiece per night with brecky thrown in. Doubt we'll get eggs and soldiers but we can put up with croissants if we don't have to share the bogs with the dirty b4sts on the Newquay campsites.

Hopefully it will be a better class of adolescent in the bars and I know for a fact that the waves are bigger!

Sorry for that one. Biarritz is quite a way out of town, 500 miles due south to be to be precise on the Atlantic coast of France. If you read Pit Pilot many of the good shoots are done about 10 miles north of here at Hossegor or Capbreton anthough Biarritz does get some clean unbroken 6 footers most days and there's no interferance like Fistral. And the lifeguards aren't Ozzy a55holes either.

Me - 'kin idiot... still at least you are sharing the Atlantic smile

Thanks for the recommendation (Pit Pilot)... I shall look it up.

But if you do ever get to Newquay - the Headland Hotel is veeerrrry nice.
