Following on from a thread highjack in general gassing, it appears that there are loads of PH'ers in Orpington and the surrounding areas.

Would anyone be interested in meeting up at the Grasshopper Inn, Westerham?

Cheers,

Iain

Edited to change the date to Saturday 9th October due to demand (see below)

Yeh, large smooth carpark with no speedbumps. It's regularly used by the MR2 Drivers Club and a few others I think.

I'll bring the missus so that's four.

Any more?

OK, looks like the popular consensus is to move the date back to Saturday 9th October.

We'll make that a fixed date now and see who else is available. I'll edit the date at the top of the thread so not to confuse anyone reading it for the first time.

Cheers,

Iain

PS: Should have the XJR back by then - wahey

Will be meeting at lunchtime. Here is a link to the website for the Grasshopper Inn for anyone who doesn't know where it is or fancies a bite to eat. I've only eaten there once, but it was

NST, what's more important, getting married or meeting a load of PH'ers? Get your priorities right

Yep, lunchtime it is.
Lets say 12:30pm at the Grasshopper Inn, at the far end of the carpark... that way we should all be able to park together.

Well, this is looking like quite a get together!

Confirmation of details...
Meet at The Grasshopper Inn on the A25 in Westerham at 12:30pm Saturday 9th October. Park at the far end of the carpark.

I have spoken to the landlord at The Grasshopper who has advised us that there is a wedding reception there on the same day so has asked us to be aware of kids running around.

It was also mentioned that a little while ago one of the car-clubs who met there had a little 'race' outside which resulted in them taking the wall with them. Therefore, I have been asked to ensure that we are sensible outside. Which means wait until 100yards down the road before unleashing the horses

Also, as mentioned earlier in the thread, if we can all park down the far end of the carpark we should be able to park together (And probably get less kids running around).

Other than that, they are looking forward to our visit and hope that we enjoy ourselves!

The revised list so far....

01. Groomi - XJR-8 (Or more likely, MR2)
02. Paulow - TBA
03. NCS - Griffith
04. ROBP - Fiesta Zetec (Maybe)
05. Nicecupoftea - Saab 900 T16s
06. Ropey - Chimera
07. Iaint - RX-7
08. Foster3JD - Corrado G60
09. Lady Topaz - Tuscan
10. GRM - TVR ?
11. Lemmonie - Chimera
12. Cotty - 325i Touring
13. S Works - Elise
14. Geezabloke - Supra TT
15. Ditto - Ultima
16. SimonClark - Superlight R / 944 S2 ?
17. GTRMikie - Ultima
18. ChelseaTractor - Tuscan
19. lake - Cerbera
20. deanrufley - RS2
21. diddyman - Cerbera
22. Mate of Cottys - Ginetta G4 (Maybe)
23. Nads - Tasmin
24. billy no mates - Cobra Replica

A very nice mix of cars... see you all on Saturday!

Morning all,

Well after months of meticulous planning and complex arrangements (OK, put up a post and watch it snowball), the day is finally upon us!

The weather is looking clear so far, so hopefully we'll get a good turnout.

Anyway, see you all at The Grasshopper around 12:30pm - I'm off to pick the XJR up from the garage (again) so providing it doesn't spit the gearbox out, I'll be there in style...

Cheers all for turning up, I counted about 40 cars in total!!!

A shame the weather couldn't have been a bit more welcoming, but we still managed to get a pretty good variety of machines - even if the garage did let me down with my car (Hence using the missus's MR2).

Nick has suggested a couple of other pubs in the area (see above), which people may prefer to meet at next time - perhaps we could squeeze another one in before Christmas. What do you all think?

PS: I'll post my pictures as soon as I can work out how to download them from my 'phone.

OK, boys and girls.

Due to popular demand (well, three posts anyway), we shall be having a re-run before christmas! Perhaps this time we'll squeeze a in too!

Please cast your votes for preferred date (4th or 11th December) and preferred location (Grasshopper in Westerham or The Woodman in Ide Hill)

Decisions will be made next week according to votes...

Ofcourse you're all welcome.... (but only if you buy me a drink )

PS: After putting three successfully reliable weeks of motoring under my belt, I think the XJR may be ready for an appearance

(Don't want to divert the thread but I wonder what the coolest courtesy car is?)

Well now, lets see...

In the last couple of months I've been mostly driving around in the old XJ40 I traded in for the XJR. Not a bad car, but what did I spend 12k for! After that I had an XJ8 - until the gearbox broke, then they gave me a Rover 75 which was lethargic to say the least.

Somewhere in there I also had a Deawoo blandbox with a 3 speed auto FFS!!! At 65mph I pulled into the fast lane and planted the throttle into the nylon and it actually slowed down, dropped down a gear, hit the red line and changed up again, by which time the car I was trying to overtake was several lengths infront of me!

OK, The results are in!

Due to popular demand we shall be meeting up on the 11th at The Woodman in Ide Hill.

www.thewoodman-idehill.co.uk/

I think lunchtime went down well last time, so say 12:30 again?

NCS: Any chance of forwarning the manager that a load of internet geeks will be descending on their premises?

Thanks to all those who voted, and for those who didn't, you can still come along but you must sit in the corner and play on your own

Looking forward to it!
