We have not had a south west-ish trip for a while.

I am proposing a short dawdle (60 mls) around some of the best roads in east Dorset on February 16th (West Dorset to follow later in the year). The route will start/finish in Poole however the exact route is still to be tweaked by a dry run or two assisted by DennisTheMenace.

Lunch will be at Lulworth Cove with an opportunity to walk, YES walk, to Durdle Door (does that make it Dawset Dawle to Durdle Door, or is that too much aliteration ?). We will also visit such historical places as Tolpuddle, of martyrs fame, and Corfe Castle.

Simon,

It open to all PHers. Come along in whatever you have handy - push bike if you like although you may get left behind a tad. The more variety the better !

Only that its out of action at the moment. Should be back for New Year. The ground clearance is not the best however I have spoken with a couple of S owners who have had no problems (and I think the S is about the lowest ground clearance, I stand to be corrected though).

Don said: I'll talk to the Mrs, Bob. I'd love to support your event. Sounds great. Some driving. Some things to do. A place for lunch. Excellent.

I'll post with a definite a.s.a.p.

Might head down Dorset way the night before and stay somewhere more local to the start....

Don,

The Bankes Arms at Studland is reputed to be good. They advertise in Sprint (page 57 in Dec issue). I will let you know more first hand as the Dorset TVRCC are there on the 5th Jan (for a walk to Old Harry Rock).

Route to be finalised after the new year, however the start will probably be at Upton Park, with the finish at Sandbanks for the beach.

I've got a definite off she who must be obeyed. And we will be making a weekend of it. Thanks for the pub recommendation. I'll look 'em up now.

Looking forward to it. Now...got to decide...Chimaera or Boxster. What's everyone else bringing?

Thanks for arranging things.

If you speak to a few of these that went to the Dorset TVRCC meet on the 5th (here should give you a couple of names), they can let you know what they thought of the place. I did not eat however the beer was good ! (and there is a decent fish resteraunt near the ferry).

Looking forward to seeing you.

Now on the events calendar for you to sign up.

I would recommend a diversion via Kingston and Worth Matravers - quite a steep hill with a few tight bends and a great view of Corfe Castle at the top. The 'Square and Compass' at Worth Matravers is a great little pub and there is a decent sized carpark nearby.

Looks like a good addition, I will try it out some time during the week - just got back from the Pub (hic!) I was aiming for nothing too tight & twisty due to possible adverse weather conditions. I have never been to Worth Maltravers so it seems like a good excuse. I will let you all know !

Edited to put some words after the quote !

Jo won't be able to make it, but if you promise to keep away from golf courses I might bring Ash along.

We will go past a couple of courses but I don't intend to visit any - decapitation anyone ?

Simon,

The start point is just off the A35 to the West of Poole. Upton Park is signed from the A35 going either way. If I see you I will signal/wave. The route can be accessed via the diary entry.

Don't forget to bring some change for the car park & ferry.
