Here's one for you, to be a bit different. A jaunt across the channel to Chateau de Cocove for a spot of lunch!

Chateau de Cocove is about 30 mins from Calais, near Recques-sur-Hem. The proposal is to be on the 9:28 a.m. shuttle from Folkestone. With the 1 hour time difference, this will give us plenty of time to get to the chateau for lunch, which has already been provisionally booked for 1 pm (local time). After lunch the aim is to head towards the western coast of France and drive back to Calais along the coast roads. Suggested return trip on the Shuttle is the 18:42 crossing, which shouldn't be too late for anyone who doesn't live too close to the Eurotunnel terminal when we get back to the UK.

Anyone who wishes to go will be responsible for booking their own Eurotunnel tickets, which are £32 each way for the times suggested. Tickets can be booked online at
Eurotunnel

Lunch at the Chateau will be 5 courses, and should cost in the region of 40 Euros.

As is usual, add your name to the list if you are interested.

p.s. This is not a Lambo only run, so if you fancy a spot of lunch in a French Chateau, add your name.

Have no limit on numbers yet (unless it starts getting into silly figures). Don't worry about keeping up, as we won't be doing silly speeds, especially in the vicinity of Calais where the police seem to be having a bit of a downer on UK motorists.

Those of us that have already booked our Eurotunnel crossing are on the 9:28 train out of Folkestone, and lunch at the Chateau has been booked for 1 pm (local time). This gives us plenty of time to take a steady jaunt from Calais to Tilques to enjoy the countryside.

If you feel that you will be a definite, copy and paste the above list with your names added, which will also help me to make sure that we have booked enough places for the lunch.

Have also heard from my friends who are bringing their Countach, that a friend of their's should be coming in a Fezza (not sure which model).

For anyone who knows that they are definitely coming, hope you've got your Eurotunnel tickets booked. It may be possible to buy them on the day, but I am not sure that you would be able to guarantee being on the right train.

Haven't quite worked out what roads we'll be using yet, or which route promises some good roads after lunch, but will post details when sorted.

Right, a few details to start putting some flesh on the bones of this trip.

As stated above (somewhere) those of us that have already booked our Eurotunnel ticket should be on the 9:28 a.m. train. Check in time for this train is 8:58 a.m.

For anyone who wants to meet up on this side of the Channel before checking in, we will be meeting at Maidstone services at Jn8 of the M20 from 7:30 onwards. Departure from the services will be at 8:30 sharp to ensure we get to the Tunnel Terminal on time for checking in.

If anyone would like to see the route we are intending to take once in France, they can view it at www.88qv.com/Chateau.htm

For those of you who use MS Autoroute, if you'd like to drop me a mail, I can forward the Autoroute file to you so that you can print out any maps or directions you would like to use. Don't worry if you haven't got Autoroute, as I will be printing off a few maps for handing out on the day.

Hoping to get confirmation from my friends about the Murcielago and the Bentley, but they're on a sailing holiday in the Aegean (or somehwere like it). Keeping my fingers crossed. Still, even with the 5 cars that have already booked their crossing, it should be a giggle.

Just thought I'd put Ian's name in the list now that he's joined the forum. Be nice to him 'cos he's a really good friend, and I've told him what a wonderful bunch of people you are on here. Also, it was his idea to arrange this trip.

If they stick me at the front ('cos I'm the one who's planned the route and supposedly know where I'm going) you won't have any problem!

My other half has just sent away to have his passport renewed, as he realised his old one runs out on the 1st August. If the new one doesn't come back in time, there might be a passenger ride available in the Lambo.

The more the merrier as far as I am concerned. If you definitely want to come, the first thing you need to do is book your Eurotunnel ticket . Once that's done, can you add your name to the list as 'booked', that way Ianqv, who is looking after the Chateau side of things, can keep them informed of how many will be turning up for lunch . Obviously he will only count those who have confirmed their booking. It also allows me to print off enough maps of the route for everyone.

Just to confirm for everyone, who may have missed the details in previous posts.

Outbound journey is on the 9:28 am crossing from Folkestone to Calais
Return journey is the 18:42 pm crossing from Calais to Folkestone

Remember that these times are local (most pertinent for the return journey) and France is 1 hour ahead of UK time.

Also, for anyone who wants to meet up before the Eurotunnel terminal, we will be meeting at the Maidstone Services at junction 8 of the M20 from 7:30 am. We will be leaving the Services at 8:30 am to be sure of arriving at the Eurotunnel for check in on time.

Rob, turn up for the 9:28 anyway, as there is a good chance that they might squeeze you on if a few people don't turn up (general public that is, not PHers). Failing that, I am sure the rest of the guys won't mind hanging on for 15 minutes or so - most of that will be taken up whilst we try and get ourselves organised after getting off the train anyway.

Just to let everyone know that due to numbers that have now booked their crossing, the restaurant is now up to the limit that they feel they can cope with as a single group. This means that if you haven't already booked, places are now closed.

One other note is that the Chateau is trying to get us to agree to a single choice meal to make it easier for them to cater for us all. Frankly I can't imagine how they can think that all thirty of us would all like to choose the same dish as everyone else! To this end we are still talking to them to get around this problem. Probably the best compromise would be for them to supply us with a menu so that everyone can pre-order before we arrive.

If this proves to be a sticking point, there is an alternative Chateau just a few miles away that we can consider as a backup option, so all is not lost if Chateau Tilques insist we all choose the same meal.

I'll keep you posted.

Don't think much if they can't cater for 30 odd people on the fly. Fortunately Ian has a marvellous back up plan which, frankly, sounds even better than the original choice.

I'll be PM'ing everyone to draw their attention to Ian's post, as he needs to get our menu choices to the Chateau as soon as possible to make everything that little bit easier for when we arrive. I apologise in advance if you read this, and have already sent your details before I get a chance to mail you.

All I've got to do now is re-print all the maps and directions I had prepared !!

Unfortunately I can't find a website for the new Chateau, but in case any of you were wondering what it looks like, here's a piccie.

IanQV is the one organising the Chateau end of things. Drop him a PM (I will speak to him on the phone in a bit to let him know). I know he has been trying to get everyone to e-mail him their meal choices so that he can get that information through to the Chateau, as it will obviously make it easier for them to cater for the 30+ of us who will be turning up. If you can send him your meal choices at the same time as requesting if it will be possible to fit you in, it will be better for him, as I am not 100% sure when he was going to contact the Chateau to pass on final numbers and meal choices. You may be able to catch him before he does that.

Just to add that I have tried to keep track of numbers so that a map of the route and directions will be available for each car. I'll be handing these out either at the M20 services, for anyone who meets there, or on the French side of the tunnel before we actually drive off.

For anyone who has a Sat Nav to which they can download waypoints from their PC, I can supply a file of the waypoints in either .ov2 or .csv format for Tom Tom or Garmin respectively. Just e-mail me.

If you have a different make of Sat Nav, I do have a conversion program. If you let me know what format you would like the waypoint file in I'll see if I can supply it for you.
