Is tunning tuning or turning?

Assume you mean turning I have a serpentine belt driving the alternator and it is very short, the routing is perfect to allow me to run a longer belt and run the supercharger off it too.

I did think of a rotrex or similar, but I don't like the underbonnet heat they produce, and more importantly they are very expensive!!

I'm aiming to have the complete car running sub 1k, a rotrex would blow that budget.
HAHA sorry mate i ment tuning.

why are you worried about under bonnet temps with the rotex?? they are more efficent than Roots so should make less heat per PSI of boost! wink

if you are going roots then you will need a M62 or bigger. i hear M90 are offten on rbay for not alot. or you could get a M62 form a Merc SLK!

Chris.

I've been offered an M62 which I'm considering at the moment, also seen m112 i think it is off the jaguar v8s, but it has a ridiculously long nose which i think will give fitment issues.

And I have experience of those little rotrex chargers and they do get very hot.

Is a 62 big enough? You can get an M90 without much trouble which gives you higher flow potential - or more efficiency for a given flow rate. M112 would be best but they are a fiddle to package with that long nose. I've seen what looks like M112 with a short nose but wouldn't know where to ge them. If I ever manage to get a short nose M112, I'm going to try turning mine end for end and see if I can rid of about four feet of induction and lots of bends.

Well the 62 is off a merc CLK, which is a bigger engine than mine, and produces more power than I'm looking for, I would think that should be sufficient.

How have you set yours up? I had a brilliant conversation with a seller of complete built megasquirt kits today.

MegaSquirt (MS1/Extra built by Philip Ringwood, highly recommended).

Since looking at yours on Sunday Pete, I've seen some pics of an M112 side mounted 'on edge' (in a Capri of all things) and plumbed blowing through a standard plenum. Not sure if there's anything like enough room in a Tiv but was certainly a neat install. How does yours mate to the Rv8 inlets? Did you rework a stock inlet manifold? (I didn't look closely at that, doh!)

I looked long and hard at that option. It's just barely feasible with an M90, but the extra length of an M112 means that by the time you have got an air intake to the back of it it completely blocks off all access to the plugs and leads on the side it's mounted. It's feasible, but not really practical unless you flip the blower end to end - which helps a lot with the packaging but the extra complexity of a layshaft would mean a huge amount of extra work. By far the simplest layout would have been inverted in the middle of the V blowing down into a very shallow plenum. This is the layout that got blower conversions such a bad reputation though because you would need to be extremely careful to sort the air distribution out. I very nearly took this route but in the end the inverted option seemed the better bet.

i think the M112 would be a little to big! the LS guys run over 600bhp out of these blowers!

M90 again would be on the big side for a 2.5ltr engine. M62 should work a treat on a 2.5 ltr.
