I was aiming for 15 seconds with my Panda but with the second choice engine 18-19 is more likely.
Fancy giving me a ten second head start at the £999?
The prize will be one of my Giant Jaffa cakes and I'll see if I can get the PPC team involved to make a feature of it.
I am back to work tomorrow, so hopefully I can get back in time for the £999 challenge....Fancy giving me a ten second head start at the £999?

18-19 sec minus 11-12sec = seven second head start, then we should cross the line together all be it at slightly different speeds

I was quite annoyed as well. If you have a spare Alfa V6 kicking about it would go great in my 145.

The only spare alfa engine I have is stripped bare with no end of parts missing Inparticular the turbo installation, which is what you are both really after .
I should be at the silverstone classic (sat & Sun) - No recing for me, but the SEC has a club stand and there should be 15-18 Stratos on display. Plus we get to do a parade lap on the saturday evening!

Not enough room under the 145's bonnet for that. A sedate 200bhp 2.5 or 200ft/lbs 3.0 from a gtv or spider would do it. The 3.2 from the 147 GTa wouldn't fit as Alfa stopped sharing the modular platform with Fiat by then (why the 147 doesn't handle as well). A 3.2 156 would be okay but why spend £5,000 on an engine donor for a £400 145? Still it wasn't long ago people were spending that on bodykits and paint for a £250 Corsa. turbonutter said:
Not sure but I think the boost Builder that the guys were talking about is something along these lines:

Interesting stuff!
The article doesn't really go into any detail beyond the pictures, but if anyone is interested more info on the system can be found in the original Prodrive patent www.sumobrain.com/patents/wipo/Combustion-unit-tur...http://www.motoiq.com/magazine_articles/id/2771/ex...

The unit they built does at least look like one of the versions pictured in the document.
All it really is is a combustor to turn the turbocharger into a standalone turbine. Unlike a 'normal' combustor it uses the exhaust gas as a fuel source rather than a dedicated fuel injector though that is an option that could be built too.
The concept is sound enough, not sure the implementation is brilliant and it looks a bit fiddly in construction compared to a lot of other combustor designs from small turbines; there are plenty of good examples commercial and otherwise. Also not completely convinced it really needs fancy materials like Inconel for the internals as I would have expected with a bit more thought that the airflow could be used to manage the material temperatures as it is for the turbine versions.
Still, it's a good toy if you've got the room, you can (potentially) use it for things beyond the anti-lag role, and it has to be better than the crude old anti-lag systems.

Point taken re the anti lag when I first saw the "rocket" it sounded like a nice to have toy, more than something I needed!
Haven driven the car at Blyton today, it could just do with a slightly broader power band, Flat shifting is on the list & already in the ECU, I just need to install the switches & set it up...
As above the immediate plan is to just enjoy it!

Three things just came to mind...
1/ Damn it! if I had been able to make it I would have beaten you by default.
2/ I think the CV joint exploded because there's no grease.
3/ Peter Jackson's doing a remake of the Dambusters movie.
That'll be seventeen hours long, in three parts, set in Hawaii instead of Coningsby with B17G flying fortresses instead of Lancasters and Barnes Wallace will be from Wisconsin instead of Ripley Derbyshire then.

Is that the Mr2 inner or other outer CV?
ATP (i think) do cages for the Mr2 CV joints.
Its the outer joint GKN size 12. I dont use the MR2 joints as the spline was the wrong size for my existing driveshaft. I have an Alfa inner CV, but the holes have been slotted as the MR2 PCD is an oddball size.ATP (i think) do cages for the Mr2 CV joints.
Just waiting for confirmation from GKN of the Problem and I will let you know.....
