Its getting old now but i will be sorry to lose the old boy as its been a fantastic drive for 5 years, but i've already had to replace 1 turbo a couple of years ago and now it looks like the other one has gone to turbo heaven too. Unfortunately i had no choice (due to being away from home at the time) to take the car to main dealer for diagnostics / quote. Almost 10k to replace turbo. Glow plug warning flashing and car in limp mode so couldnt get it back home.

1) I have asked for diagnostics report - they have said its confidential. What is that all about? Its like going to the Dr with pains in your chest they run a series of tests and then dont tell you what is actually wrong. Yes i could assume its a failed turbo but for £9k i'd like to see it with my own eyes. Anyone have trouble getting diagnostics / codes which you have paid for our of Audi main dealer and what is the story there?

2) On a more technical matter, the most expensive part is 059 145 061 AL at £6k for part only. I think this same part is available for a lot less @ turbo-diesel.c0.uk but i wish to check what the significance of the AL is as i dont see this on the compatibility listing for product 059 145 061 AA. The AL is coming from the Audi quote itself.

Gutted if i need to scrap this car but cannot pay for a repair that amounts to more than the car itself is worth. Car is currently near Manchester so any recommendations on indi's i could reach or recovery services who would get it up to my garage in Scotland would be appreciated.

[quote=joropug]Has the turbo caused engine damage or something? That is an outrageous price if it’s simply replacing a turbo?

Not that they are telling me. The quote is for new turbo £6k + Labour £2k + VAT.

Agreed, that is an outrageous price. Tell them to stick said £6k turbo up their arse and give you your car back. Get it trailered to a VAG specialist. What year A6 is it?
2012 mate. They wont even give me the diagnostic info which i have so far paid £550 for. They say the codes and full summary are confidential. WTF.

As above, look at refurb turbo as the turbos in the BiTurbo Audis alone I think are about £3k aftermarket prices and £5k cheapest OEM supplier.
