After a bit of advice regarding my 04 plate ST220. Couple of days ago it wouldnt start sounded like the starter motor wasnt engaging. Managed to bump start and took it to a garage. Received a phone call yesterday saying starter motor and dual-mass flywheel need replacing. Luckily its under warranty but not Ford warrranty its an independent one I took out from the car dealership I bought it from as the original Ford one had expired.
Anyway the garage claim they can replace the flywheel without removing the gearbox, does anyone know if this is possible on the ST220 (it has the 6speed box- Getrag unit I think?)

Also would the clutch require changing if the flywheel is being replaced?

Ta
Chris

How the fook are they going to remove the flywheel and clutch assembly without removing the transmission??!! Impossible i'd say, as for the clutch it would make sense to replace it at the same time.
Exactly what I was thinking. Needless to say they wont be doing the work its now at my local Ford dealers. Starter, Flywheel and clutch. £1074 inc VAT eek glad i took out extended warranty
