Hi all

You cant believe my friends luck!

He has a R33 Skyline that is due to go to the ring tomorrow. Whilst driving today, very suddenly, the oil pressure gauge dropped to nothing, and the oil pressure warning light came on. Combined with this, at the same time, I suddenly lost boost.

Now obviously it could be that the oil pump has packed up, leading to the faillure of the turbos, but I am curious as to whether there are any other things that can lead to these apparent symptoms in this car (ie electrical issues).

I only say this becuase the car was put through a car wash only about a mile before the sudden failure.

Desperate!

Help!!?>!?!?!?!

Hi Stevie

Sad to say that the gauges appear to be correct. It would appear that for whatever reason, the car has had total oil pump failure!!!

I have to say that I am stunned! This is the sort of failure that I expect from a shonky old Ford, and not a Nissan R33! Goes to show

Next step is to rip it apart I guess to see what has caused it - but the turbos I suspect now are systematic, ie fked.

Well....do they all use the same sensor ?

Verify there is actual oilflow, or pressure with a suitable mechanical gauge.

I'd imagine the car's light, and any auxiliary gauge use 2 separate sensor/switches....so unlikely both have gone bad ??

Although you never know.

Did he stop the car when this happened, or did he drive on ? if so, how was it driving ?
