I now have the keys to V8 HSV
Discussion
Mark delivered the car back to me this morning & am pleased to report that all is well. I will need to drive it for a few hundred miles to run in the new block and to re-acquaint myself with the car and learn clutch control once again.
LSV have lowered the boost pressure until it is run in so current read out is 522 BHP with 8 psi boost. As it has forged pistons & con rods its current set up should be bullet proof. They have also reduced the compression ratio down to 8.5 so when I go back for a different pulley set up it will then be fed 12 psi and we are expecting + 600 brake!
One smiling happy HSV owner again…

Great news Will, seems like you have two loves of your life now, hope no jealously crops up. You seem to have been very patient with the whole affair. Is it true they even changed the name to LSV special projects affter this rebulid. Now after it is run in and you can get 12 psi and approaching 600 bhp which is the sort of figue you have been after all the time you may be able to keep up with Stu's pick up truck!!!!

Cheers for that, LSV are under new management with a new MD, their General Manager, Doug Duguid would be the man to talk too
Lot of talk about figures from suppliers, I have a dyno print out in front of me showing 663.5 BHP from a 5.7 Litre Monaro that LSV recently did which is quite impressive, certainly stand up to the 6 ltr with the Harrop blower, Vortec for me....

I am confused Will! Recorded 522bhp which must have been pushing it a little and now you have to run the motor in.In my days you run in first and then dynoed and progressed from there.Did not the 600 plus have problems with its internals??
I had an ls6 dyno'd at a place where they make expensive cars for the well heeled and rich etc. It was initially run for 8 hours on a stepped system on day one. On day two they took some figures as it was by then run in. If the dyno session went well then the engine's pretty much run in.
Personally, I'd run in first then dyno if I had the time.
Boosted.

my ls1 puts out 480hp no turbo or blower
Who's in it to be a dyno queen ? Some dynos read higher than others, some read lower.
The only real place that counts, is how it performs on the road, and for its owner. If they are happy, numbers are irrelevant, although big numbers make for good pub talk.
