Selling so soon frown I have been reading up on Monaro's this week and came across a few of your threads - out of interest did you manage to sort your leaking door and engine rattling?

I am seriously pandering after one of these but worried about rear space for kids seats (5 and 3) plus luggage. IS the "bigger" boot big? IS the small boot, er, small? smile

Had mine for 2 years with my 2 kiddies travelling in it nearly every day. Loads of room.

The big boot is just that - a big boot which could easily swallow a couple of suitcases and a couple of hold alls and still have room

I had the leaky door and it cost me ₤24 to fix. The plastic membrane tears by the lock and needs patching up or replacing.

I find the boot is reasonably sized (I have a CV8 with the larger boot). If something can go in the boot of my wife's Bora, then it will fit in the Monaro which is good enough. No match for the old Mondeo estate obviously, which is why I'm keeping it.

Regarding space in the back - it's quite good for a coupe. Access is more of an issue than space. If you have kids that are mobile, then they'll be able to jump in/out with no problems and have plenty of room. If you have a toddler or baby, then be prepared for some backache trying to "post" them into baby seats through the gap. Also, choice of baby seats (as opposed to child seats) is quite limited due to the length of the belts.

My prediction is that you'll just conveniently "forget" any practically issues once you've driven one, and you'll just buy it anyway.

I'm loathed to sell it, but the wife hates it, and it's caused a number of arguments!!

It's a CV8 with the bigger boot (huge). Leg space in the rear is as good as you'll find in any car!!! The leaking was sorted out, and I had the wortec cat back and remap done, so pushing around 380bhp now.

The car is quicksilver, and absolutely spotless. Only 21k on the clock...The engine has never rattled...that must have been another member....

I'm open to offers, so drop me a line...

Some reassuring replies smile

My kids are old enough to climb in themselves - one thing you get sometimes with coupe's - how are the rear seats shaped? Are they upright enough to get a child seat in without them sitting folded in half?

Sorry to hear about the mrs aggro roastbeef. I think mine is so sick of me daydreaming about cars that she would almost be relieved if I suddenly went and got one smile

I took the rattle comment from here: http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

James I have an 05 CV8 with the larger boot, black, headers, full exhaust (miltek, loud not offensive), efilive diagnostics and tuning software and a full set of spare alloys. And 20 more ponies than roastbeefs wink PS no leaky doors either wink VXR brakes and I've had the cats made into secions so if they need replacing you can do easily by just dropping them out, or you can use bypass pipes if you want which I also have.

If interest give me a shout

They're like replicas of the front seats, full on buckets almost.. (don't recline obviously)...

Biggest problem with the kids will be stopping them arguing over who presses the button to move the seats back!!!

My boys are are 10 and 7. I wouldn't consider NOT using the Monaro when we all travel - they'd kill me!

As much rear room as my previous BMW 530, so never a complaint. Access isn't great, but once they're in it's fine.

James, the car is CV8, it's the one with the biggest boot. In fact it's bigger than Stig's cos he carries his ego around in his.

Anyway, the check engine warning is a common glitch. The car had its 20k service about 3 weeks ago. The dealer checked for error codes, and there were none. It hasn't done it since.

Drop me a PM if you're interested...

It's my fault for invading your thread RoastBeef - apologies.

I am researching and getting finances sorted at the moment so not cash in hand just yet. I will start another thread in due course - slightly worried now as everyone seems to be selling up lol!
