Mikey - the VXR8 alloys suit your car superbly. Why don't more Monaro owners fit them? (Serious question - is it more than a simple swap?)

Right. I'm preparing myself to get flamed here......

The general consensus was that to fit VXR8 wheels to a Monaro, you have to get the interior arches cut out (tubbing). I used excel, some formulas and wheel offsets that have worked and come to the conclusion that the wheels will fit without tubbing IF a spacer is used.

As far as I know, I'm the only person to successfully run VXR8 wheels without tubbing. It wasn't easy, but with a small spacer, longer wheel bolts and a lot of trial and fit, they will fit. It's not something I'm wanting to make a big deal of, as I know some people have spent a lot of money ensuring VXR8 wheels can fit a Monaro.

Ps- Thanks Mik. I even sprayed the wheels myself wink It's a Renaultsport Anthracite colour, if anyone's interested.

Thats got me thinking now, they do look good Mikey1987. Where did you get the spacers from and longer studs? As mine are running on the normal 18s with VXR Aps which make it mega tight on the inner rims.

Did you have the arches rolled, and did you have the wheel centres re-bored?

also, what make of tyres and profile?
did you test them against the bump stop, is take spring off and drop them down to see if they rub/clear.

Thought I'd add my pics into the mix. Think I've posted most of these before in other threads.

Some pics below taken not so long ago:

Some older pics taken back in 2012:

And one more played with from Spa 2012:

Why not Mike? That's what this Forum is all about surely?

(Excellent colour choice by the way - I used Aston martin Tungsten on mine originally which is a little lighter)

Cheers. The spacers are just generic multi-fit spacers. However, I'm in talks with AAS for them to machine bespoke spacers for me. The wheels bolts are ARP ones, from the US. I think (off the top of my head) they are an inch longer.

Arches haven't been rolled. The area which is tight on the outside is at the rear of the arch, where the rear bumper meets it. I've trimmed a strip 0.5x2.5cm of the bumper. I re-bored the wheel centres with a drill and flapper disc.

Rears are 265/30/19. They're Michelin Pilot Super Sports, which, as you know, are a lot wider than the advertised width. Full compression on the bump stops and it doesn't rub.
