How do you get to run at the bowl ?
I did this as part of a Redline day. I assume though you can just ring up and book some time. They give you a driver briefing for the parts of Millbrook you want to use, give you a radio and then leave you to it.....
Wow - good stuff !! Didn't realise it was open to the public like that. Is that the place that has a one way road section too ?
Not certain that its open to the public, just my assumption. Yes, lots of different sections of track, one way, etc

Just heard that my best stats over the qtr at Millbrook (per racelogic box) was

0-60 - 4.5s
0-100 - 8.5s
1/4 - 12.2s
1/4 terminal - 125mph

lots of work to do on traction....

Have to say I amazed even myself this week by replacing a split rocker cover seal with my own soft hands. What a pain in the arse the Katech cover is to get to sit properly though.....

The rocker cover rubbers are a PITA....for some reason, new ones always seem to be longer than needed.

Superglueing them in as you go seems to help them stay.
Yep, used some silicon to fix it in first to stop it falling out with all the jiggling around. Still not leaking either!

Changed out the McLeod clutch yesterday as it was slipping more often than not when at 15psi (no issue at 4psi)for another McLeod one. Various opinions on what the last one was rated to (800bhp seems to be the common view) with the new one rated to 1200bhp.

Looking at the old one it was pretty worn and shows signs of plenty of heat. It also explains why the gearbox was becoming more temperamental (particulalry reverse) over time. Change of clutch and the gearbox is reborn (gearbox oil change also showed no signs of any wear in the old oil).

New clutch is a bit grabby, and was warned of this when Roger put it in, but tolerable. Good news is that theres no more slippage at 15psi smile

Remind us again 15psi = how many bhp?
Who knows for sure.....only run once at this boost level at Surrey Rolling Road back in January, and showed 836rwhp.

Monaro back home again today woohoo

A few fixes
- replace worn out brake discs
- replaced propshaft with the larger version after bending the bolts on the last one (doughnut was in good shape though)
- welded in prop loop in case prop does ever break...
- fixed missfire - replaced three split HT leads (one was a right mess and in pieces)
- replaced worn clutch, out with McLeod and in with a Ram clutch - feels good, nice smooth take up, slight rattle but thats all

I missed her cloud9

Good news and I know what you mean about the rain!

Whats your potential top speed in the distance we have?
Last time I was there I think it was a 1 mile run as well - managed 192mph

Impressive! Any alterations since the last run that might help you improve on the previous attempt?
Plenty of alterations since then - be nice if they did make a difference!

An update

Its been a while, but we have rebuilt her. After pulling the engine apart, it was all fine apart from this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qws4TA8ISOI

Piston in no1 cylinder a bit of a mess. Plenty of heat in there such that you can see the gudgeon pin has domed the top of the piston.

Cause of failure a bit of a mystery having checked plugs, leads, injectors, noting that every other cylinder/piston was spotless....

Rebuilt engine and ran on Peter's engine dyno with the same components and found that there was a fault on the wiring loom to the coilpack on no 1. Turning the lights off in the dyno cell while running treated us to quite a light show. Massive arcing occuring leading to missfire.

All looks good now. Should be back at Rogers on Monday and back in the car by the end of the week (no pressure Roger).

...also, would a faulty coil pack be the cause? Looks like detonation to me?
It could have been, but having tested them they seem fine.

Cant see a coil pack or wiring causing that. There has been detonation there as well as running lean. I'd assume the cylinder head carries the same indentations.

Are all the other pistons still round etc ? No marks on any other cylinder at all ?

At least its on the mend.
Every other cylinder and piston spotless........

Harry, was it cylinder one or cylinder two? Was it was the same cylinder as before? The damage shows sever detonation and it's unusual to get that on a front cylinder. Usually it's 5 or 7 with an ls engine. If it's the same cylinder as before and everything on the engine has been changed then it's an installation issue. Could be wastegate balance, headers or something else. You should fit exhaust gas temp sensors in the exhaust ports and are you using knock sensing? That would have made an awful lot of knock.
cylinder 1
yes, very apparent when it let go.
