YES we have a Turbo or two on cars in the UK......

Just re-read this, is it a twin turbo setup?

Damn you! Damn you to hell!

I'm now working at FatFace in Havant. But it's basically in the same place.

How does a single turbo set up work? I know how it works on a 4-pot but with a V8 and all that exhaust piping it just confuses me.

Would twins not be better for packaging reasons?

Does the single setup ruin that V8 rumble?

What's the square root of the universe?

From my very quick and gentle pop up the road (paul/Wortec hadn't quite set it up properly) it sounded like a big V8 with all that lovely rumble but barked and snapped like any highly tuned turbo should.

I saw the bits before they got on Roger's car and it looked a fantastically clean and simple set up.

The headres really looked the biz in SS.

I would imagine it to be like a S/C car i.e. you retain the big V8 roar and rumble but you will get the associated turbo noises, wooshes, barks and with big dump valves/waste gates lots of high pitched wooshing on changing gear.

it will be unique and damn fine I am sure

the single turbo has a balancer pipe from the right hand bank over to the turbo side so it is very neat and much much less time consuming than the twin turbo set up (and a LOT cheaper!!)

As for sound you now get a very deep traditional V8 sound very much like the "F1 Pace car"!!!

and the answer to your last question is "42"

Thanks chaps!

I was just wondering. Can't wait to see and hear it then! I got my Calibra up to 400bhp capable but it's still not right - I'd love a setup that was reliable (ie, low boost) but gave the gains of a turbo.

So if we're talking 600bhp, which is only 100bhp per litre, then what's the torque like on this? I'm assuming this setup is on stock internals, clutch and piggy-backing the ECU?

OH NO!!!! My car is on 9000 miles and will be going in to Greens fairly soon for it's first service and I was going to get headers done whilst it's in, But now ive seen 600BHP

Does it cause any problems with the gearbox and drive train?.

I will compile my list of for's and against's

For : I want one

Against : Who cares.......

over 80% of TQ. arrives around 2400rpm and stays up to around 5600rpm before is dips to around 60%. of the 590+TQ the turbo makes.

The PCM is a stock GM unit which we re-map so less money and messing than an after market set up.

Most of the reason we have not released the kit yet was we have not done enough testing on the longevity of
asociated parts but our partners in OZ have a lot more miles under their belts and have very good reliability.

Sounds awesome Paul, where are you mounting the Turbo? There is a kit in the USA (made by STS) that uses a rear mount turbo, sounds stupid I know (having it so far back = more lag) but it seems to work well, I'd be interested to know where you are going to fit it. What's the maximum power capability of the turbo you're testing? I'm guessing the customer could probably upgrade to a bigger turbo if they wanted to... You're also going to have to start offering some options to beef up the drivetrain, the driveshaft and half-shafts probably won't take that much punishment (not to mention the clutch )

Hey fellas, if this keeps up we are going to have to find deals on tyres and brakes, and well probably clutches as well. Think standard issue is also going to be a helmet, and a hanky to stop the nose bleeds.

The way to sell it to the Mrs or Girlfriend is that they probably wouldn't need a face lift.. and the kids all you would have to do is strap them in the back and all you would hear is "Do it again dadddy..." as you plant your foot on the floor..

here is a picture of the engine bay.......Note the air filter is in a tempory position and we have removed
some of the engine covers but they will all fit back on giving the engine bay a very neat look.

it saves me typing it...........

I have not done our web site for this product yet so anyone wanting to look at dyno sheets etc. have a look at the link......remember most of the info is in metric.

The UK kit will have some changes to cope with the UK......and a different map.
