Good grief. Somehow my Sundays will never be the same from now on.

I thought the first rule of washing your car was to not do it in the direct sun.
Maybe that is Australian sun specific

What a load of bo**ocks. But nonetheless if he can get people to pay then bloody good for him....makes Dan's £10.00 offer look very reasonable!
Some other flaws in his technique I spotted:
1) Yep, washing and drying in the sun. Not good unless the water is filtered or reverse osmosis.
2) Only using a single wash bucket. No rinse bucket.
3) Using a sponge (don't care how much it cost).
4) Same sponge used for lower and upper body panels. Tut tut.
5) No protection lasts 6 months.
6) Depth gauges can be got for a lot less.

Ummm. Could I do better. You bet I could!!

Why's that bad? Apart from it being a sponge, that is.

Have you ever felt the lower panels of your car after a long run??? Rub all that stuff on the upper panels using the same sponge and there's where all your swirls come from. Trust Brian, he knows what he's talking about!!

of course thats not such a problem if you use a lambswool mitt and wash from top down and then wash the mitt after use. Oh and not forgetting to use a 2nd bucket of water to rinse the mitt before each dip into the soapy bucket.

As for sunlight - not really a problem in Scotland - my biggest problem is getting a day when its dry enough to wash and polish the car

Sorry guys, this is getting a bit OTT and needs 'spicing up' a bit.......

Now I like spending the odd three or four hours doing the wash & wax thing on the beast on a Sunday afternoon like the rest of you, but spending thousands of pounds as well?!
In all honesty there can only be two people in this world who can tell the difference as it drives down the road, the guy who has spent the last 10 hours of their life getting 'pruney fingers' and dead arms polishing it, and Booster!

Am not too sure how to respond to this tbh. Paul is a good friend who spent a lot of time we measuring paint levels on my M3 in an attempt to prove that BMW had pretty much GRADE A FECKED IT UP. And sure enough with the gizmo seen in the video, Paul was able to prove that the paintwork on the car was damaged enough for him NOT to be able to work on the car. They had quite clearly burnt through the clear-coat.

Paul's a geat guy and it is no secret that he is an absolute fantatic when it comes to cleaning cars. I've sen him work briefly and have to take my hat off to him.

Hiya mose. Really no personal criticism of Paul intended. I'm sure he's a decent enough guy as you say.

No worries Brian. BMW were quite jealous of his paint measuring gizmo, they made a point of stressing that theirs (some aniquated valve driven appliance) was calibrated everyday. Paul responded with..."its digital, it doesnt need calibrating"

any chance you could persuade him to come to Donnington and do a demo of how to prep our cars properly? I'll even let him use mine for the demo

Dan won't be able to manage to do very much as there probably isn't any water available. If you want the car done properly (for a resonable) price then we can sort something out. Thanks Dan!
