I can imagine it'd drive ya nuts though...it isn't what you expect in a 35k car.

I'am sure Vx play on the fact that enthusiastic petrol heads like ourselves love these cars and are prepared to put up with a few glitches here and there, just little things like Brakes etc...........(luckily not vxr8) not saying its right for them to do it but!!!

One thing that has occured to me is that if the vxr8 has a water ingress problem at the front bulkhead this could cause problems with the electrics. Worth checking your carpets to see if they're damp?

Don't appear to be damp at the moment (famous last words) my garage seems to be indifferent to the problem, all's fine when I start up then everything goes off, real bugger when you are trying to de-mist and no air con/heater. Two long trips coming up later this week, I'll take the patrol, least I know everything will work, even after five years...........

I haven't had chance to check the fronts - they are double skinned to fairly water tight. Could be an ocean under there and you probably wouldn't be able to tell. Am going to attack it at the weekend and see if I can find an easy panel to get access (don't fany disconnecting the seats).

The rears are easier - if you can't feel anything on the carpet itself, then there's a plastice trim panel fixed by one screw to the edge of the rear seat base. Undo this and it pops out - you can then get your arm in a fair ways under the carpet. Any problems and it'll be present here too

Build 123

Incidentially whilst I was outside (always a good idea in failing light) I decided to check the front carpets.

Bit of a pita as the trim is a pain. the best way (after some trial and error)
1) remove the drivers right side rear seat rail cover. its a moulded cover about 3" around. just grab from underneath and pull.
2) go to the front drivers seat right rail. you can grab this and pull it forward (it's interlocked with the side sill trim.
3) finally the side sill kickplate will now just pull off.

Anyway - had a look under the front and it's bone dry <phew>. Going to dry out the rear and see how it goes. Get it checked on the next service.
