they're costing you time on the strip! HAd the misfortune of 2 factory fits with protenzas, they were superb tyres when they were a new design but today I'd rather have chingchongs on

Still not sure exactly what to get.
I'm seriously thinking about getting the Falkens and just trying them for myself, they can't be THAT bad on the rear can they?

Other than that, I might go back to the Avon ZZ3's (nothing wrong with them) as I just don't have the funds to splash out on a decent set at the mo frown

Falkens are fine. They will be st for the first few hundred miles though, until the releasing(?) compound has worn away.

Had 2 sets on the rear now, they might have less outright wetgrip but to me they're funner smile

K, I need to make a decision now. I'm either going to get the Avon ZZ3's refitted.......or try out some Dunlop Sport Maxx's to the rear.

Which would you choose?

Possibly, all I know is they were like bakelite in the middle and I got loads of wheelspin on Mark's dyno during one particular winter run. I find the Goodyear F1s much, much better and they are still cheap.
Is your car finished yet mate?

I have Sport Maxx's on the ute. They're ok but not quite as grippy as the OEM P Zero's, but are wearing better. And I have given them a lot of grief/abuse at the strip and they've stood up quite well. Be interested to know what they cost here. I bought mine in NZ where they tend to rip you a little more on tyres.

Stig's right, though I wouldn't mix tyres on this kind of gear.

Actually I am running mixed but purely because the rears needed replacing and I had a spare set of alloys in the shed with a set of new conti sports on them (fantastic tyre)

Thanks for the advice guys.

In that case i'll settle for the ZZ3's again on the rear, and when the front's start to eventually go i'll get Sport Maxx's fited all round.

The only thing is I can't get hold of any z rating ZZ3's......only Y. That won't be an issue will it?

Make sure you cycle the tyres front to rear to even the mileage out. You then don't have the dilemma of just changing two.

RedBarron,

I've got a pair of Michelin PS2's sitting in my garage suitable for 18" Wheels. They're part worn but still have loads left on. Long story, but I had 3 sets, hence the reason they're spare.

As stated by some others, I think the Mich's are excellant. So if you want to give them a try, PM me. They don't owe me anything so I'll be happy to do a good deal on them..

I love getting new tyres fitted, always makes your car feel like new again! I've just had a full set of Continentals fitted to the Ro today and it's vague 'all over the road' feeling has vanished! £640 'all in' from Kwik Fit.
