Harry,

Have you got/considered fire suppression? e.g. plumbed extinguishers.

Given the heat and space issues, would be a tragedy for it to go up in smoke!

I havent on the basis that I trust its built such that it wont....having said that I'm sure Audi thought the same thing when they were testing the new R8

Fantastic job! Can't wait to see it "in the flesh" as it were. And hear it too of course.

Subtle bump because this project should really be a sticky IMO. Has to be the most highly modifed UK car I know of. Any new news?

Hmmm, no real new news.

Its running which is good news. The mapping is however proving to be the challenge it was expected to be. To clarify the target is to make a 7L TT with a design output of 1000bhp+ idle, drive, accelerate like a stock car. Not an impossible challenge but requires a lot of thinking to achieve. More work taking place this week

Yes I agree, if I was prepared to give up on the "stock" approach, then a number of elements would have been developed differently. I'm resisting that pretty hard though

Would a full MOTEC or such like not give you the mapping ability to do all you want inc driving as stock.... you could possibly swap between maps then for road and race settings...? Thats what they do on turbo road bikes... You could also dial the settings in live whilst out driving to set it up to your personnal style of driving.

From an engine management point of view thats right, but you lose the stock ecu functions for the rest of the car.

To be clear some of the mapping issues are not just the mapability (or not) of the ecu.

Ah

Hopefully it will still be there on the 1st March as it will give me something to look over whilst mine is serviced and a harrop diff cover fitted.

I know what you are trying to achieve and once you start to go down the M800 route, then you start to lose the basic functions in the car, and it would become so modifed that it loses its identity as a Monaro. I know of the top Motec guy, as he is a friend of a friend, Frasier - AKA 'Mr. Motec'. If you did decide to go down that route he is the man to sort your maps out as was responsible for bringing Motec into Europe yes

Thanks for the update.

There are far better ECU's out there than Motec. Dave Rowe is a top mapper though yes

There are plenty of ecu's that can do the job. Motec is good...but way overpriced.

And just because you use an aftermarket ecu, doesnt mean you have to get rid of the factory ecu if it performs other functions.
