Water in rear n/s footwell ( and lots of it )
Discussion
I have read all the replies here.
When I had my Vauxhall Omega my car had a factory sunroof. Apparently there are water tracks that go down the inside of the doors the water should run outside under the car, basically disperse to the outside.
I had the same problem with my car no sign of drips in the car, nothing leaking from the sunroof. For months I was totally baffled by this, just as you are.The water was not going down the desired channel.
At this time it was involved in an accident with a very large deer. It subsequently went to the crash repairers. during its rebuild I asked one of the Techies there about this problem. He knew straight away what it was. The wholes down the inside of doors were blocked with scum and other rubbish which meant the rain water etc would drip down the wrong channel and into the car-well below the carpets. On the Omega there were plastic rubber pipes from the drip tray under the sun roof which worked there way loose and were detached. It would get into the roof space on top of the cloth roof, and then drip down the doors into the cabin.
I am not sure if this is your problem but it might be. Now sorting out the problem is very difficult to fix. but he managed it and I never had a problem with it again. He used super glue . It was a real bh to fix. It would fill up so fast in heavy rain and the inside would fill up with mist and condensation so fast.
Good luck .....

He hasnt a roof...
he hasn't an omega
hmmmmm?
Oh ....I know a sun roof..
NO matter the crash repair guy said the principle is the same, the drain holes get blocked with scum and rubbish over time. He said Vauxhall's and other poorly made cars too have a weak way of draining water away for what ever reason it gets in , a broken seal, leaky door seals , it doesn't go down the water channels , and goes down into the cabin inside the doors and frames , as aperture is blocked with scum.

Update......... and question.
Question first.
A few of you guys recommend taking the door card off to look at the membranes condition... my thoughts are, surely even if the membrane was taken off altogether or was perished, still the only place for water to get is inside the door cavity. thus coming out of the drain hole as normal. Am i wrong ? ?
Update on water ...............................
...............................................
...............................................
been pis==ng down all day up north here, had to go out for an hour on torrential roads. approx 50 miles. drove through loads of standing water on purpose.
Got home, opened the rear door, more or less expecting a gush of water to meet me as in the cartoons...
..........
nope! not a f==ing drop, carpet and underneath bone dry and had yesterday laced the are with talcum powder as suggested
clean enough to put on baby`s ass
Whats going on???
No. 100% window was not open at all.
So, I`m still not happy. its got to happen again sometime.
or maybe i have had a spiritual visit
sure there will be more updates to come
cheers fellas

Update.....
Well after months of rear n/s rear carpets getting wet, i`ve booked a full day today with no family round in an attempt to rectify this once and for all.
I was going to take the front seat out to get the carpet up, didn`t want to do this initially as the carpet is bone dry in the front.
Anyway, took the n/s front side cappings off and was able to lift edge of carpet. bloody soaking underneath. 5 hrs to dry it out.
So, its coming in the front and running back and pooling in the rear footwell.
The door card came off, membrane is in tact, so back on.
i`ve looked (halfheartedly before) at the suggestion of leaves in the scuttle panel, there was none.
Scuttle panel of again,
What i detected was
1: the large rubber funnel shaped grommet for draining water away was a loose fit so that got a dose of silicon and put back in.
2: which, i think is the problem, if you look with a torch in the same area there are two 1/2" holes through the bodywork approx 1" higher up. dont know what they are for but would suggest they should have grommets in too. again, a dose of silicon as no grommets were to hand.
Also took another members advice of covering the mesh filter with cling film to stop water getting in there........ think i have had the piss taken out of me there. Or maybe i have misunderstood.
did this and thought that`s it, must be sorted.
cleaned car, went out for a drive......warm day so put the a/c on...except ( you guessed right ) no air blowing with fans on.
Then i thought.... dumb Bugger.... that`s the air intake for cabin. Where the pollen filter normally goes.
Off it came.
To summerise Where i park the car in the drive is a narrow one and like a wind tunnel. i assume when it rains and wind is up it is blowing water up through the 1/2" holes because the water is clean/clear, not coming in when driving and it would be dirty water if it was. cant park car other way round.restricted access.
I`m hoping and pretty confident this is sorted.
We will see.
Hope this may help someone else.
It has been a p.i.t.a. and has stopped me ploughing more money into mods
