spark plugs for 2004 cv8 monaro
Discussion
You are correct o2 voltage tends to 1v when rich and tends to zero when lean. Around 450mv is stoich.
Dont forget when cold the engine is in open loop and wont use o2 sensors for fueling. In which case you are very likely to find they will run rich until somewhere around 55degC engine coolant temp at which point they will start using o2's for fueling.
If leads are insulated correctly they should not jump through the lead. It should only jump the spark plug gap.
I guess fitting lpg is more than just the install cost. Seems like a lot of hassle. Good luck following it through.

Hi Stu,
Yes of course this is as it should be and has been explained to me by Vauxhall customer service. I have no problem with this. Vauxhall cannot be expected to cover under warranty things caused by non standard kit fitted to the car. However what the dealer is saying is very different, they're saying that all warranty is void, this is patently wrong. Though they are still arguing the point. I would be very interested to know how fitting high quality HT leads could cause damage
The issue at the moment is the check engine light coming on when in petrol (or GAS) when idling after the engine is hot. e.g. I'll drive to work (15 miles) get into a traffic jam near work and the 'check engine' will come up. Trying to diagnose this has let to the HT leads being checked and the arcing showing up. Basically we thing that the arcing to being reflected as a drop in voltage at the spark and thus an mis-fire being picked up by the knock sensor leading to the warning light. To rule this out I want to replace the HT leads with Magnecor KV85s (Which I was hoping would be better quality than Vauxhalls). If this stopped the arcing and the warning message then we're onto a winner. It's just seems like common sense to me.

What I'm saying is don't bother trying to change the leads or plugs. Just get them to fix it - unless I misread your first post it sounds like you want to change your plugs and leads to a different brand. Don't bother - just get Vaxuhall to sort out your arcing problem.
As I said before I highly recommend the following two Vauxhall dealerships: Picadors in Southampton and Greens of Rainham. Both will bend over backwards to help you.
Good luck getting it sorted.

Thanks Booster,
Unfortunatly Southampton is a bit too far for me to travel to (from West midlands) for standard maintenance. The problem is that the car is with my local vauxhall Monaro specialist right now and it's them who are saying that the arcing is normal and acceptable, also them who have the O2 sensor voltages backwards.
Anyway I'm taking the car back tomorrow. The think everything is fine even though the engine check warning comes up on the dashboard!

I had a very similar problem with the eng light coming on in the same circumstances (yr 2000 HSV-gts). I changed the leads and plugs but in the end it turned out to be the o2 sensor. voltage was at around 1v on one of them!!
Was running OK in start up open loop but overfuelling/misfire in closed loop until eng warn light came on (goes to open loop fuelling)when picks up OK.
Have fitted new HT leads (AC 748CC), spark plugs (AC 41-932, K&N filter and O2 sensor.
