Not me as i live in Derby but couldn't help notice the Arborfield location (did my Army basic training there in 1982) remember a lot of the local villages and Pub crawls beer...great memories.

Is the Arborfield garrison still there?

I did my basic (TA) just down the road at Bordon. We got changed at Arborfield for the freedom of Wokingham parade. I think that must have been '82.

laugh That's where we'd just come from! I was probably booting it as I'd got stuck behind a string of cars with a steady stream of oncoming traffic. What were you driving, do recall seeing another 'Ro on the road...?

I have heard that Bordon is now empty, and Arborfield is also closing. frown

As for the SEME workshop, I remember we used to do 2 laps around for the BFT. 1.5 miles each lap. eek

Just missed you then! Was in a blue CV8 coming from Arborfield. Caught sight of you as I was coming around the roundabout by The Bull.

Jeez! I had forgotten about that boring 3 mile BFT run around the hangars!...i was only 19 yrs old in 1983.

Remember going to Petersfield regularly, Royal Oak i believe was our favourite haunt, drank some beer there!

Big place SEME, wonder what will become of it?...Housing?

So was I. I think I'm going to have to go and find my passing out photo soon, just to see when I was there....

The army are still here, they are supposed to be moving out in 2015.Maybe!
(Bordon got "eco town" status so they want to build about 4000 houses out of sustainable materials Zzzzzzzzzzzzz.)
Longmoor camp down the road is still busy (they are doing "Olympic security traing" there after the "jubille training was done.)
Louisburg barracks is now empty.
We get a lot of driver training going on here still from BSM cars, JSM driver training trucks up to the odd Challenger clipping the curbs!
The Royal Oak you mention, is that the music pub in Hollywater?Still a biker music pub. There was the Passfield oak which has gone now and the Queens at Greatham.

Those camp names bring back some memories! (i had forgotten most of them) and the driver training tank

The Royal Oak was off Petersfield square (centre) down a street on the left hand side, it was such a long time ago i have almost forgot confused...might be this one now... http://www.petersfieldpost.co.uk/news/local-busine...

Thanks for the memories bud (think we have just about hi-jacked this 'Arborfield' thread!!!)
