Music System hits bum note!!

My c.d player has developed an aversion to playing disc in 3 and 4.It plays the first 6 tracks fine then goes all crackly...like a scratched record!
It makes no difference changing discs either.If,for instance,I swapped 3+4 for 1+2 It still bloody does it!
Has anyone else experienced this problem?
