Hello again,

Well June is quickly approaching, which means myself and the Monaro will be on the Hyundai COupe stand all weekend. Details can be found here - www.modifiednationals.co.uk

It should be a really big show this year (as about 25 Hyundai Coupes on the stand, plus the Monaro) and should be great fun. It would be nice to meet some of you if you are passing. I hope the Vauxhall 6L UTE will be there also.

So far, my car is stock performance wise (2005 model except K&N filter) but will be fully soundproofed and has a full set of new Infinity speakers which sound really sweet. The plan was full sport pack for performance but time is running out and the sound proofing has taken about 40 hours work so far (so far about 80Sq ft of matting and 50 sq ft of rubberised foam) and I have not finished the boot yet !!

Cheers
Steven

This may seem like an odd question - but when most of us are looking for extra noise, how come you're going for soundproofing. Surely it adds a fair bit of weight too ?

I thought it odd too! Didn't want to say but will ask too now.

must be an I.C.E. maniac if he's that concerned about soundproofing. To achieve the kind of soundtrack I'd like to be hearing I need Vauxhall to sell me their one off concept car convertible Monaro but I don't think there's much chance of that - just have to make do with rolling the windows down.

I'm surprised they'd have a stand?

Hi Guys,

Hyundai stand question is easy - previous two cars been coupes (2L and 2.7L v6), I have many friends from their owners club and forums. Its a Coupe owners club stand (I think approx 25 cars on the stand).

Soundproofing, well, the simply answer is road noise plus sound system. I have done both doors, rear quarterpanels, full rear deck and rear wheel arches in the boot so it will not affect the natural noise of the engine and exhaust (I know some of your were concerned about that). Weight, yes, it does add weight but not a massive amount, it makes the doors feel even heavier though and everything has a really nice thud to it. Don't panic guys your will see it at Donny Castle if you don't fancy the show. I will be making sure I don't slow it down much with the Wortec exhaust and tune soon anyway.

The soundproofing makes a pretty quiet car even quieter on the road and should help with the exhaust noise. I am considering doing the boot but that will quieten down the back boxes. Stock exhaust is not v8 enough for me (my v6 coupe had full SS exhaust on it to wake up the v6).

Cheers
Steven

Thanks Steven, do you modify them in any way. I wasn't aware that people did.

Boosted your taking the mick right !! LOL

Yes, the Hyundai Coupe is a very popular car and the Americans and Koreans love modding them. My v6 was my first soundproofing project, lightened Crank Pulley, B&M short shifter, AEM Full intake, SS Exhaust, Fuel tuner (piggy back chip), full new stereo plus poly engine and gearbox mounts. Not quite Monaro standards but loads cheaper - i.e. SS Headers and exhaust for about £800. There are loads of the Gen 1 and 2 cars (97-2001 models) which have been modded. Some of the Americans and Koreans have twin turbos and superchargers on the V6 kicking out about 300BHP - bearing in mind its front wheel drive (rather them than me).

Don't laugh too much but one of my Coupe mates has a 1.6 Gen which he has spent more than £30K on. OK, have a good laugh I do.

Enjoy
