It's that time of year again. Here are some interesting quotes.

Adrian Flux...............................>£800.00
First Alternative: The incumbent...£637.73
Privilege.....................................£609.00
Tesco........................................£595.00
And Finally A-Plan......................£569.00

All quotes for Fully Comp with Protected No Claims and Legal protection. Most with £650 excess but A-Plan is only £500

oh and the RAC wont quote on anything above Group 19

Forgot to mention. The Car is a 2005 CV8 (350) no mods

Try Lancaster Insurance, www.lancaster-ins.co.uk , sales@lancaster-ins.co.uk , 01480 484848. Have done me excellent deals on a couple of V8s so far and state they will be competative when my Holden due.

Thanks DR-Prod that's the best so far at £538-00 the only problem is that they won't offer a protected No Claims Discount (NCD) That's either due to the car or the fact I had an "at fault" Claim last year when some thieving turd nicked my 4x4 Turbo Calibra

I've been quite impressed by the fact that most companies will honor the PNCD and not penalize me for that loss. I was also impressed with the way First Alternative handled the claim but I guess that is how it should be. It just that, historically, the insurance business has that reputation of give and take, you give and they take, that it make a surprising change.

Policies I have with them are on an MG ZT260 V8 and a Corvette, trying them when Holdens are due as they advised 'they would be competative' when I asked about other cars including Holdens. Gave them model details out of interest as they weren't on their database. I can only suggest you talk to them rather than use a Web Quote. I found them via www.confused.com.

Have to say - cannot understand RAC problem!
I am insured with RAC direct (they were the cheapest) on my CV8 including listing Wortec mods and AP's.
I think they added £50 for all the mods - so do not understand the group rating refusal

could be to do with postal codes - area I live in has really bad reputation and because of that theres an additional charge on insurance policies. Brother saved £50 by moving only 5 miles away from here. Could be some companies only insure up to certain levels depending on the area you live in?

Who's good for modified cars - say Wortec Sport pack, headers and the AP upgrade?

Adrian Flux seem to be good for modded cars from what I've seen on here in the past.

Admiral insured me with the upgrade pack being 25% increase in BHP or less.

Reasonable i thought for a 35 yr old, full ncb at £858.

Shed loads less than Tesco who were in the £1200's unmodded.

Just had a quote for £23.90 increase to my premium with Admiral for brake upgrade, has anybody else experienced an increase for brake modifications?

Yep, my insurers wanted more money, even though you could argue it was a safety improvement.
