This is my first go on the forum having owned a 2004 monaro cv8 from new,and still cant get the smile off my face everytime i drive. I live guernsey, yea yea i know what the hell do you want a monaro for, mind you petrol at 56p a ltr helps, anyway i diverse. Recently came back from a trackday at a circuit near Nantes Fay de Bretagne sooo much fun,and have had the wortec re-map and brake pads upgraded, and wonder what next. I did think i would like to have the suspension upgrade ? also tyres. Fitted at the moment are eagle f1, front left did not look good after morning session. Has anyone tried the Toyo proxes. Any info much appreciated

I use Toyo Proxes on my 300zx. Great in the dry, OK in the wet, good noise supression (much quieter than the Avons I used to have) and excellent value too.

And please don't mention cheap petrol on here again weeping

Sorry about the fuel price, mind you i only get 13/14 mpg around this island. Thanks for the info so far, still would like to know if suspension mods are worth the money, with trackdays in mind.confused

I did a trackday with Malc at Bedford on standard tyres, brakes & suspension and had no problems at all.

Just put on first set of proxes t1r's. Seem much quieter than p-zeros and handle good. Still scrubbing in though but on the whole good. Search the forum - they seem to be popular.

you just dont get that with a Continental or Michelin tyre

although its important to brake in straight line and accelerate once past the apex, as opposed to steering in and scrubbing off speed by melting tyres....

which tyres are they. graining is not so bad. in truth 100 miles on the road and most of the marking would have rubbed off that set.

I think it's just down to the softness of the tyre. Eagle F1s and Toyo Proxes would appear to be pretty soft but offer good grip.
