Da immobiliser thing

Curious about answering correctly the 'what type of immobiliser' and 'Thatcham category' questions as part of the insurance quotation, I thought that if anyone knew, Vauxhall customer services would. Coz they surely have access to everything anyone would ever want to know about what's actually in the cars they flog.

They said 'Unfortunately Vauxhall do not hold the information regarding immobilisers,... may I suggest contacting Thatcham ...who will be able provide you with relevant information.'

Tried that, got cut-off after being re-directted to 'the lab' - what's that about? Is there some bloke in a labcoat with an anorak-sized memory on Thatcham certification?

Does anyone know - or has no-one ever had to be that specific with insurance quotes?
