I have a '56 VXR 'Ro and was looking at simply changing both back boxes to stainless, to increase the noise and something that looks a little better. I don't want to spend a fortune hence only the back box change.

Luckily I have a really good custom exhaust manufacturer close by.

Question is, is there an additional muffler on the cental pipes? If I change the back boxes only, can I expect a noise that will at least make the neighbours curtains twitch? Or would I be better just doing a full cat back...(more money)

Cheers
Ross

I remember the straight throughs for sale (think they were on Ebay), that not screw your fuel consumption? (I know it does about 19 anyway hehehe)

As you say there are lot of mods to make your car sound right, but I want something right for my pocket too

A mate just got his scooby done and that was a new centre pipe and rear for £175, so your quotes fit in where I thought they would cheers.

I don't think I'd go straight through, replacement mufflers just.
I need to speak to the guy, he gets a really good press and knows his stuff, so i'll see what he says. with local guy I can also do it in stages if I want too.
Thanks for tips...

Went with replacing the rear back boxes for straight throughs with a 6" x 4" Oval tip at each side.
Looks and sounds a lot better than it did in "stealth" mode.

The centre boxes must take quite a bit of the noise out too as it wasn't that loud when we took the back boxes off completely.
