John, I dont think folk are uncharitable on this forum, and with respect, when the previous owner states: "I was gutted when it was written off the car was absolutely mint. The damage might not look much, but the estimate to repair was £14.5k!!!! The paint job alone was £4k. all of the nose needs replacing and eveything that was inside it, basically everything from the oil tank forward. The bonnet might not look damaged, but it bent double during the impact. The drivers side suspension was trashed as was the chasis pick up points, took the impact from the armco barrier. Also the rear passenges side suspension and wheel took some of the impact during the spin when they hit the curb".

Folk would tend to expect that the car is on the register.
HPI is not fool proof as I'm sure you are already aware.

The car has a report with it for the paint jobs which states light front end repair they had the car on the ramp when i went to veiw it the chassy looks as new and undamaged as some one thats works in the industry i can spot damage a mile off ,i am just buying a new house so putting a sag on hold for a bit however this pearl white one is by far the most stunning one ive seen

I don't doubt for one minute what you say, but the previous owner is a chartered engineer and I guess he knows chassis damage when he sees it. The previous owners idea of light front end amage and the sellers seem to be some distance apart..
Good luck when you finally get your Sagaris - a good one will not dissapoint.
thanks tvr owner ,ive had a couple of sags so know them well, my point was that this car is stunning and obviously repaired to the highest standard possible but people have to go on about it like every other car in a negitive way this car has ,mint interior and not a cat D the sellers quite open that its had a repair at a tvr specialists and there not many tvrs that have not had some damage lets face it

You may well be right! We have 4, three have had no damage (two at almost 4 years old have had no paintwork the third is 31 years old and has had paint - and lots of other stuff!)
The 4th one has had enough damage for the other 3 to last a life time...but it is a 35 year old ex works race car so I can excuse it

From your profile, your based in Tenerife and yet you have come over to the UK to view the car despite having no intention to buy it because your buying a new house? Good on you - thats dedication I enquired about it as soon as I saw the initial link and the seller told me it was cat D recorded.
thanks L33 i have my cerb here which is coming back to the uk for a rebuild so want a sag to take back but the mrs says NO !!!! i hpid the car myself it def not on the reg as a d cat plus they gave me all the pics of when it was damaged looked very minor indeed ,the car looks a million times better in the flesh too!!!

It WAS a Cat D, I rang the seller a couple of weeks or so ago on behalf of a friend who is looking for a Sag. The seller said that he was going to get the DVLA to inspect it and then it would be de-registered. I think the the same chap who repaired the black 07 Sag with rear facing exhausts.Edited by Hoolio on Sunday 1st February 18:49

well i can confirm that i hpi d it and it was NOT a cat D however the black one he had was a D cat he said, so thats mabe where confussion is
No, I asked about the white one he's selling now, he told me it was Cat D but he was getting it taken off the register. My friend didn't want to pay 31k, I reckon that car's only worth 27-28k as it is. The seller said it was ok cos he will take it off the register so no problem when you come to sell it BUT it's the ONLT Lambo white Sag in the world and i reckon PH'ers have a pretty good memory.
IF you can get that car for 27k I reckon it's pretty good value but he said he couldn't go lower than 29.5k.
If you do decide to go for it good luck

So despite the the seller saying it is and the previous owner saying it is, you're saying it isn't because HPI say it isn't?Do we have an emoticon for "la la la, I'm not listening"?

read the thread !!! we no its had a bump ,but in not on the hpi register that is the point i am making i have the print out !!!
When I asked the seller "why is it so cheap" he replied "because it's Cat D but I am going ot have it inspected by the DVLA and taken off the register".
Either way Cat D or not it's still the cheapest 7k mile Sag that i've seen being advertised so there must be something up with it.
I couldn't care less what's on an HPI report, they can be out of date / wrong as insurance companies aren't very quick at doing their job. I suspect this report is out of date and if I were you i'd be asking for my money back. Given the fact the seller told me it WAS Cat D and the previous owner has already stated it was in a prang and the repair bill was 14.5k
Anyway, it's still by far the cheapest 7k Sag i've seen advertised and if it's been fixed properly then it should be ok.
hi hoolio
I wasnt trying to be clever i just know what i got when i hpid it, came up clear maby the seller as had it inspected and removed ,i belive the inspection for this is very thorough indeed so if thats the case then this would make the car seem good ,the seller all so has all the pics of the car damaged i have to say it looked very little ,all the rads were intact etc there are close up pics of the chassy which just shows damaged to the top wishbones but none to the chassy ,even the outrigger hanggers look untouched wich are normally the first thing to go. the 14k repair bill proberly is massively over exaggerated as body shops do this to spank the insurance you will know this only to well ,the body damage was front n/s arch and head light and a scractch up the door and both n/s wheels looked like they had damage the rear just looked lighty scratched i know pics dont show everything but it was very light thats for sure .whoever has rebuild this car seem to have made a nice job the attention to detail and paint finish is exellent any way is it still snowing there ??? i am sending this email from spain where it is nice n warm
