That looks good Don, does anyone know the rules on respray and change of colour, can it be done?

Rules? You are a law to yourself, and your bank balance. hehe

Seriously, people rate Surface & Design (I think!), Raceproved and a few others. Mine is at Raceproved. RP have done some stunning work (look up Alex 225 for pictures) - his was silver (IIRC) and is now something else entirely.

Personally (apart from mine), my favourite colours are Spectraflair Silver and Reflex Charcoal. There is also a stunning Sag in TVR racing purple.

Have a look in TVR pain codes and external colours.

Before... Iced titanium

After... A variation of copper cascade I can't remember the name of...

Respray done at RP. I know which colour I prefer.

Thanks for the replies. That has provoked some thought. I have never tracked it but must admit would like to! I'm not to bothered about much more performance. Richard at Track v Road did quote for a new fly wheel and doing the clutch at the same time and i did think at the time does it really need it! I've had the car for 4 years now, it's the Silver sag EU05 FDK which made a couple of brief appearances on the classifieds pages about six months ago. I was going to sell it and get a Gallardo but when it came to the crunch i just couldn't let it go.

It has had quite alot spent on it over my tenure, probably about 6 or 7k. Last year it had a full set of Bilstein shocks, new discs and pads, new radiator and a quite a few other bits with the 12k service. Just had one advisory on this last 6k service and did some nice to do things like had the wheels done in anthracite as well.
Couple of little issues like back lights need re-sealing but nothing else body work wise and it spends most of it life in the garage. One of the main reasons i was looking at a Gallardo was because i fancied a different colour of car. That sound like something the Mrs would come out with. I really really liked the really deep grey Track v Road had for sale recently and i thought about a respray, am i allowed to do that?

I look at some of the pictures of how clean the engine bays you guys have the cars and i find it amazing. I have spent the winter months in there with countless tubes of autosol metal polish but am now at the point where i think the engine needs to come out for me to progress. That is where i fall down, it took me almost 2 full days to pluck up the courage to release the water bottle from its holder so i could send it to be powder coated black. When i'd done it i realised it wasn't such a big deal but lack the confidence really.

So i think in summary i'm looking at possibly a respray if i am allowed to change the colour, and a new interior. Any tips on who, where and how much?

Thank

Viz
I know what you mean about the Gallardo but it would have to be a Superleggera LP-570 to get me out of a Sagaris as the standard cars are a bit boring especially after driving a TVR, as for a change of colour it might make the car harder to sell if you ever did think of selling it but if it's a keeper or you ain't bothered about value go for it.

The Lambo's are nice cars and I was looking to put about 50k plus the Sagaris which i had on the market for 36k into one, so the Superlegga was a bit out of my price range. I read on here a few days ago and agree with the poster who said the Sagaris doesn't look dated. I had a couple of Tuscans before the Sagaris and i look back at them now and they do seem to be old, maybe i've just looked at them too much!

After thinking about it for a couple of days i think what i'm trying to achieve is a well above average standard of car. Mechanically in 4 years its had two 12k services and two 6k's which i believe is in accordance with the schedule and lots of other bits. I've been told everything is OK engine wise, with the obvious caveat that something might just let go. So that only leaves a re-spray and interior which i'm going to start doing some homework on this week.

Alex, that new colour is fantastic, the iced titanium is also very nice and one of the colours i am thinking of. It is a keeper but didn't really want to dent the value too much with a colour change. Is it known that colour changes reduce the value? Also does the engine come out for a re-spray?

Thanks for the pic's and pointers, much appreciated.

Well, tbh, I've done quite a bit of work to my Sagaris so it is probably academic now if a colour change hurts the price of it or not.

Let's just say I had it independently revalued for insurance purposes recently and it is now worth significantly more than it was when first I bought it
and the valuation went a lot past the 50k mark.

So, I don't think the colour change hurt the value of it. I'm sure others will jump in and totally disagree with me, but to be frank, I got the car for me, not for a collector to stick in a window somewhere so I don't really care. biggrin

You're in luck then.

My car is currently with RP getting the Russ and Brendan treatment for a few little enhancement ideas of my own
I wanted them to do and some very cool ones Russ suggested.

Feel free to look around it and Don's one which is also there.

If you're not far from Clitheroe, talk to the guys at TrackVRoad, who deal with Surface & Design, D&C Trim, The Trim Technician, (all Blackpool based ) and Chris Gregory at AutoRefinishing in Knaresborough, and all very good.

Here's Cascade Indigo, for reference, but CliveF and myself would prefer it if you chose another colour... hehe

I have decided that the new colour will be Starmist gray. Richard at Track V Road talked me into using the chap in Knaresborough who he highly rates. I decided last week to start cleaning underneath and the chassis before it go's so put the car on axle stands and made a start. After four 8 hour days, 2 bottles of T CUT and countless cloths i've finished the front left corner!!!! Looks good though.

Just wondering though if anyone can tell me if this sounds wierd. On my last run out about a mile from home the power steering just stopped. I had a look at Graham Varleys page and changed the relay took the car out power steering didn't work, changed fuse 37 still no joy. Then today took the 80 amp breaker apart cleaned it (it was not blown but did have some green stuff around it) put it back together and hey presto power steering works. Does anyone think it's worth having the pump checked?

Graham, if you read this then thankyou! A fantastic website.
