Ls Powered TVR's

What was wrong the previous generation? Is this to get round IPR?
Nothing 'wrong' with the 1st Gen but the 2nd Gen has some significant improvements. However, I never know how much in confidence I'm told these things so I'll say no more until RG choose to announce it. Edited by JonRB on Monday 28th June 17:05
4/5 years on from the demise of TVR I think we are in a really good place now re the S6 cars.
400 bhp + reliability seems to be comfortably attainable from at least 2 suppliers of S6 engines and at least 2 companies seems to be doing good quality LS conversions.
Everyone is catered for, English gents to nightclub brawlers.
We just need a couple of new terms for each type of car.
I think WS and SS for Wheeler Spec (S6) and Smolenski Spec (US V8), respectively.

good thing, keep us updated with that.
Just a quick update: The engine is all in and full of appropriate fluids and connected to the transmission. I tested the ECU and wiring with my engine simulator last night to check them out and everything works fine up to 9000 rpm! Should fire it up tonight providing Peter has done his homework...

thats a good start...and 9.000rpm thats a lot...could also mean more hp then the standard engine?
what is your goal in hp figure for that T350, and when finished pictures talk
thx
I don't think the actual engine revs to 9000 rpmwhat is your goal in hp figure for that T350, and when finished pictures talk

I check at high rpm to make sure there are no electrical funnies/noise at high rpm.
The engine will be around 450 bhp/450lb/ft torque ish. That is with no mods. Another 50 bhp is around £300 for a cam change.
I hope to get some video tonight.

The LS Cerbera Sp6 is virtually done - the engine fired up first time about 10 days ago.
Just waiting for some dashboard parts so we can complete the dash change that the owner wanted.
I met the owner at the Sheffield Supercar meet. He's very much looking forward to getting his hands on this animal. Just waiting for some dashboard parts so we can complete the dash change that the owner wanted.

around 450hp is good to start with in such light car
though when you say for around 300gbp will get you around 50hp more, I would take that option too

...certainly 430 plus on a S6 seems optimistic but hey when I see that on SRR or Raceproved I'll celebrate.
Why SRR or raceproved (ex Joolz) as a benchmark ? Any dyno will do providing the cars all run on it on the same day ? From memory RG's FFF 4.0 SP6 made 392bhp on SRR (flywheel) which I would have thought is good 4.5 AJP territory or exceptional 4.2 AJP territory. Powers 4.3 and STR8Six's 4.3 have made 390bhp and 411bhp at the wheels on the same dyno - I guess that would equate to 460bhp to 480bhp respectively at the flywheel which is considerably more power than most re-mapped 4.5 AJP's make.pebi said:
So are there any offerings for a complete Ls7 conversion?
Thanks.

Have a look at, http://www.topcatsracing.com/2010/04/sagaris-chevr... they have just installed an LS7 into a Sagaris.Thanks.

Exactly...I cannot understand the hype about the LS7 either. Sure, it looks good on the camcovers, but they are expensive.
I quite like the 6 litre version of the LS3 shpub uses. It is in my Cerbera aswel. Price is even better than an LS3 and power is the same. Wel, the 150cc difference cannot produce that much hp's.

ow? that sounds good, which area in NL do you life, I guess not in the east (Overijssel) would be nice to see that up close, also check in at driving-fun.com a Dutch car forum, your welcome with such car, we do also trackdays and Germany days ;-)I quite like the 6 litre version of the LS3 shpub uses. also what i like to know, did you also have some sort of dry sump in that LS3? the LS7 does have that standard i believe. (can come in handy at the ring or a track-day)
cheers,

I'd go the ls3 platform as the blocks are better and stronger. Plus they're a lot cheaper then the ls7. The ls7 is nice but you don't really need it when you can cam an ls3 to make good power. Engine management and mapping is the key with these engines to ensure reliability.
Ok, then I should change to: V8 motor in general.I've heared the asking for a complete (transmission, work, taxes etc) v8 conversion with a ls3 engine would be 14.000 gbp.
Are there any alternatives with an output ca <500 rwhp?
Thanks.

I live in Helmond, near Eindhoven. The car was published in the the Dutch TVR carclub magazine (first issue this year).
The car is going back to Steve during the summer holiday for doing checkups. So, if there is an opportunity somewhere in september/oktober it might fit.
Do not know if I am going to take the car to trackdays a lot. Steve advised me to do a driverstraining with the car, because it is such a light highpowered car with lots of torque. I think that is a good advise.
I do not know what is in a engine conversion for 14K, but give Steve Heath a call. Lots of possibilities starting for a lot less than 14K. But the more you want in hp's, the more expensive. The 6 litre version goes into the 500hp's with a camchange.

Indeed you have to learn how the car reacts and how you respond to that...
but our driving days at circuits are for members only, so not to crowded and respect for each others cars, you don't have to race, there is nothing to win only to loose at a club trackday
but then TVR car-club also organize trackdays...long time ago I was on one in my TVR days...
TVR is still in my mind though.
We also do some spirited driving days, some in NL and some one the German no speed limit autobahn, but for fast cars only...and yours will be fast enough I guess
I was thinking on a TVR T350c as a basis and then a LS3 or 7 conversion...and a from RHD to LHD conversion, but thats not done yet I believe on a T350?
maybe the LHD parts from a Sagaris will fit?
I'm in Almelo.
