What is the top speed you have had from your Tamora ( on a private road of course)

I'm off to Brunter on Sunday and was wondering what sort of speed I should expect.

Had just over 180 from my Tuscan Red Rose, so I was kindda hoping for 170 from the Tam.

Anyone been to brunter with their Tam? If you have what speed did you get?

Cheers

I too would like to know this! as the quoted power output of 350 bhp comes at 7200 rpm, but I am sure the power tails off way before then, at say, 6500.
having said that, I'm not 100% sure as when accelerating, my eyes are fixed, nay, cemented to the road ahead, on a 'private' road, I did do 120, but I didnt realise as it came up so quick, so the speed was in no way intentional! (only in a straight line, as I'm still too scared to push it round the corners!!! lol

This months EVO has a T350 and as part of the big test there is a max speed run.

There were engine problems though...

Yep! I went 2 years ago, but only managed 152 with the top down, at which point I hit an aerodynamic barrier and could not get the car to go any faster!

I tried again with the top on, and got to 135 before the roof started to lift off the screen! (It was after a replacement screen fitment, which obviously wasn't squared up). Anyway, I had to lift off.

My other concern at the time was a very noisy valve train, which turned out to be a broken shim, so I was slightly wary of the engine, and maybe didn't push it as hard as I could.

I'd be very interested to hear what sort of speed you can manage...

my other half at le mans 2003 changed up to fifth on the red light and was still accelerating. I tried it and changed up at 140, she was going down the mulsanne streight, so I suppose she did 150 ish.

on the way back from le mans last year,a guy we met whilst waiting for the ferry showed me his gps recorded stint at 162mph,and assured me there was still some more left if only hed had more road on which to continue! id have thought theyre good for a genuine 170ish?

Yes, it was strange how the acceleration was good (although Autocar I think got to 100 nearly a second quicker in the Tamora), but Vmax wasn't as expected..

I hit 6250rpm in top with the roof down.

Trouble is the fecking speedo was reading 0mph.

Anyone any idea how fast that might be?

Approximately 155mph if it has the same gearbox as a Tuscan.

Around 150 ish is all I could manage in the Tamora although I did see 175 on the way to folembray last year in the T350 and that should be pretty accurate as we tested it with GPS equipment at Bruntingthorpe and found it was 1mph out.

Like Nubbin I found that my Tamora hit a barrier at 150 with the roof off and with the roof on a two inch gap appeared between the roof and the windscreen!!!

Hmmm, bit more of a gap appeared yesterday. Like about a mile - the roof blew off the car as it sped down the runway. Also, the drivers door window blew into the car at speed

Driver and passenger okay, although a little shook up. I think the engine was playing up too - very sad

On your Boxster? Is the roof badly damaged?

No Ben, on the Tamora that was there.

The roof section survived but the window was in 1000s of pieces within the cabin. I went and saw the guys as they were brushing the remainder of the glass out of the cabin onto the grass.

Very scary.

that is bad, I can recall flasher talking about his doing it, then nubbins, now this....

autocar lost a roof a few years back on a tuscan

should be a warning not to excede a certain speed with the roof on....

Wish I'd posted earlier. scary stuff.

The roof thing happened to me on several occasions including once on the M45 which terrified me. It was one of the reasons for getting a T350......but the glass? Jesus.....
