Normally battery voltage is around 13v on the LCD.. however reccently I get a reading that varies between 11.8v (with an error on the LCD) and 15.5v. It clears after 2-3 seconds however is becoming more and more frequent. When the engine bay is hot in traffic.. volatge is reading almost constantly either high or low.

Am I right thinking my alternator's regulator is on the way out and are they a servicable item.. or do I need a replacement alternator?

My car has been doing this, it's in with TVR Power at the moment, I think it's the voltage regulator on the alternator. Not sure if these can be replaced easily on this type of alternator though.

Alternator is fixed.

Under the nyloc that tigthens the heavy lead from the battery is another nut that tightens a bush to the alternator. This bush clamps the alternator output stud to the regulator input... which is a thin washer.

The nut was loose...
