Went to try and put the roof down before, and one side of the cover that houses the roof when it's down wouldn't unclamp.

I put the roof back down but is there some sort of manual release I can use? Then try to clean the clamping mechanism to see if that helps.

And yes, I know the car needs a clean before anyone points it out smile

I think it's the clamp rather than the motor. If there is some sort of manual release I can clean the clamp and see if that works.

Joking aside, George, it might well be this - my roof stuggles every now and again.

Have you tried sort-of bouncing it up and down a bit, to try to free the mechanism off? Can you see where it latches on the other side and get some WD-40 in there to free it? Then get some silicone grease on it yes

Or the motor muight be buggered, but give it a squirt first.

Yours is usually down the whole time, so not so surprising. That is the first time Geoge's has been out of the garage this year, so interesting that it lowered but struggled to erect.

No it wouldn't lower, that was the problem. The back bit wouldn't lift up so it couldn't go down frown

I'll try WD-40 when I get back and bouncing it a bit as per Yeti's advice.

I had this happen on my Vantage Roadster, the first time the roof module was knackered and was fixed under warranty.

The second time it was because i half opened/closed the roof and then stopped to take stuff out of the car.
The roof just wouldn't continue to close after that (or open fully for that matter).
I turned the ignition off , manually moved the roof a little to make sure it wasn't stuck (both bits , the canvas and the metal),
then keys in and it worked again.

Worth a try......

This happened on my previous Vantage, some part of the mechanism comes "off" and jams it, not sure if it would be the same as your DB9 but the symptoms look the same. I was told it was a known problem but as it wasn't an actual roof module failure, they wouldn't cover it under the extended warranty. A couple of hours labour later it was fixed. I meant to ask if there was something you could look for to try and prevent it happening again but forgot.

Not much help but the system I am pretty sure is the same as in a Clk convertible and that does have a manual over ride to wind down the roof if it gets stuck half way.Good luck - manual should refer.

Manual release cables under the rear seats (in the battery and tool compartment on a Vantage)
Try them then lubricate the latch mechanisms
Failing that off to Bridge Mill
