I want to fix the stone chips on the front of my AMV8. Searching PH I came up with these options and was wondering which of these (if any) you guys have found to be best:

1. http://www.drcolorchip.com/
2. http://www.langka.com/
3. Buy OEM paint and get a professional paintshop to apply it.
4. Get a professional paintshop to mix some paint and apply it.

I am not too good with this sort of thing, which is why I added 3 and 4 (better colour match?).
Mine is nowhere near needing a respray, but I'd like to do this, and fix a few leather scuffs, before things get out of hand!

Thanks in advance for any help!

If you have small chips and/or road rash then I would go for DrColorchip. A very good product and really easy to use.
As for leather scuffs I really do believe there is no better product out there than scuffmaster from gliptone.

£40 will get you a reasonable size bottle of original paint with the same amount of clear laquer from an AM dealer. The original paint is water based and very easy to apply with a small artists brush (Bottle comes with a built in brush but it is far too large). As its water based you can have as many cock ups as you like and just wash it off before it dries if your not satisfied. Once dry a dab of clear laquer will seal it. Simples!
Seconded, Scuffmaster is what you need for the leather. They carry a matched colour range to original AM colours. You will get a bottle of original plus a bottle of 1 shade lighter and 1 shade darker for you to tweak the colour match. Just tell them what interior you have and for £10 (I think) you'll get plenty, about enough to do an entire steering wheel, which is plenty to paint in a few scuffs. Again best applied with a fine artists brush. I'll leave you to source where to get the brush!

I have used drcolourchip and Langka on previous cars.
On the AM I'm about to try this kit;

The hardest bit is getting a nice clean level finish to the laquer coat frown

I reckon I'll give that scuff master a go as well!

A couple of thngs to note. The car in the vid is white and you will always get the best results on light colours whatever method you employ. Another is Mikey K says he has tried this and is now trying something else. Mikey K how did you find it to use and was it as good as it says on the tin? if so whats the reasoning behind trying something else?

It's OK
You always get better results with "flat" colours, metallics and pearls with lacquer are harder to get right.
The trick they pull is to put the lacquer in with the paint and dilute it a bit more. So you just fill the hole than "polish" it flat with the "solvent" provided. Langka is basically another version of the "polishing" solvent.
I'd rather fill the bottom of the hole with the paint colour and then cover with lacquer so there is a small hump.
It is then down to how brave you are wink
Leave it like that (many do!), Langka or wet & dry followed by cutting compound.
The later gives far better results and is how many of the detailers and paint repair guys do it.
I'm feeling confident so I'll try the later! wink
I'm also fortunate to have venture shield so only have 4-5 small chips after 19K miles.

I purchashed Dr. ColorChip due to their claims and the pictures and did my wife's Lexus first. The results were perfect with small chips and required multiple coats on the big ones to build up. I was so impressed that I did the few that missed my clear bra

Here is my before and after thread (with pictures) on the wifes Lexus on 6SpeedOnline (US site)

Siy/Adam or anyone else interested smile

Did you go ahead and order yet? I maybe interested as well if a group purchase would save a few ££

I emailed them to ask if they had anyone over this side of 'the pond' as an agent for the stuff! I doubt it but I'll let you know if I get a response

Oh plums...never mind!

Could I ask users of this product what size pack they bought and was it enough for what it claimed (ie 12 stone chips etc) or could you squeak more out of it?

I bought the Road Rash Kit which is plenty (enough to do both rear arches and front bumper) and I still have half a bottle left.
