Most Porsches are reliable and they are noted for it.
I'd agree that Porsche have a reputation for reliability, but I think that this is being eroded by the experience of some of the latest cars. BMW have also had their problems with cylinder liners and big end bearings on the M3s, and we know what Mercedes have been like of late.
There is no way anyone can claim that the DB9 & AMV8 cars have a reputation for unreliability in my opinion.

...as for saying "hand built and English tends to mean it will break down a lot..." Care to elaborate? Toyotas are made in England, you know. As are Honda, Nissan, BMW (all 4 cylinder engine production), MINI, Peugeot. The list does go on, but I wont.

I get hacked of with the reverse aswell tho.
New "British" car releases seem to follow a trend. Alot of flag waiving, hailing it as the best car ever. Especially from the media. Everyone jumping on the band wagon.
And then reality strikes. And it gets trounced for not living up to the dream.

Dear Pistonhead Scribbling People
For zee - how do you say? - zee Pouting Thomases - I vish to say, categorically, zat our magnificent AMV8 has bin tested extensively, twice - down zee Pond's Road in all zorts of travic und nasty, mit sidevays rain, wesser, backvards und forwards, und including von complete U-Turn-Vee-Vill-Neffer-Surrender.
Our pure bred car testers vere able to park it in a bay in von move, two minutes, at zee Ace Dirty Bum Cafe. Zis, as Petrolkopfs vill know, is an all-time stick-it-in-your-Guinness-Book-of-Records record. Rarely in zee anals is it known to park a sandvich zer let alone a sports car created by zee Gods. (I am not von, merely his messenger.)
Zo, rumours zat our great automobile will break down soon as press zee starter button are no more zan is expected of Britishers who ver unable to put togesser a single silly EmGee oder Nasty Healing sports car zat vent furzer zan one block vissout spilling oil or sparking electricical bits unt bobbles. Zo zer!
Your car making capabilities are zee laughing stock of zee world. Dumkopfs. I spit upon your Speed Six socks unt laugh mine off. No you know vy zay had to bring in a good German fellow to make your cars better, not vunce but twice. You may have von zee war but you were incompetent to vin zee peace, always getting drunk down at your Pubic Pubs.
Furzermore, I vish you malingerers to know vee created the loudest exhaust noise, not to tingle your tiny brains, but to make a raspberry as vee pass by. Ha!

Actually I'm in the UK aswell.
Vanquish, DB7, <Insert any new TVR here>.
Your right about the German stuff. A large part of it is deserved. But it does go over the top aswell. Especially with the recent blips in reliability for all 3, which haven't been reflected in the reviews.

I heard Cologne is nice. Isn’t that where the engine for the AMV8 is made?

Ah, yes, growing old is compulsory, growing up is optional.
Talking of age, the good Dr said they were aiming the AMV8 at buyers of 25 - 30 years of age. If you don’t mind me asking how old are the future AMV8 buyers on this forum? Unfortunately I have just turned 30(I know down hill from here on).

Do you know many 25-30 year olds that can cough up 90k (fully specced)?

One. Aston need 2999 more, or a few more, (how shall I put it) wiser, experianced gentlemen. At least the boot is bigger in the AMV8 than the DB9 so they can get the zimmer frame in.

I'm 43, ordered mine when I was 40.5! Thoroughly enjoying the downhill slope and still no sign of growing up! Taking delivery in November if AM pull their finger out.
